  1. Is it a serious threat to the tree? Thanks
  2. Can you tell me what this is, it's on a wych elm? Appears to be leaching from the partially healed wound. The tree has been pollarded in the past, but don't know when.
  3. And never be fooled by dear old biddies, rogues get old same as the rest of us 👵
  4. Hi, I'm interested, what you lookin for?
  5. Some of the husky axes are made by Hultifors Bruks who are pretty much on par with Gransfors (don't know if the virgins are male or female though😜)
  6. Only the biggest one I think. Woodsmith experience is where I got mine
  7. Hi I know a blacksmith who does that sort of stuff, havn't seen him for a while though, he's over in Gloucestershire area, I'll try get contact no. If you're interested
  8. I'm renowned for smashin phones while climbing/felling/etc and bought an otter box on previous iPhone but I found it too chunky. Now hav had normal 'book cover' one on phone for 8 months and it's just as good.😃 I'll break it now!😩
  9. Yeah and too cheap!
  10. You have to be able to sit on em if need be, took me a few years to build up a good customer base, I never advertise just word of mouth, my missus thought I was mental when I bought processor but it's paid for itself many times and still goin strong. Patience young Padawan !!
  11. Ironically I replaced the springs on my 94 transit 190 crewcab tipper 3 yrs ago with oem ones, MOT last month failed as both middle leaves had snapped (looked overladen even when springs were new so don't notice !) so this week put on beefed op ones, I'm still probably not legal but with logs on back and trailer fully loaded they've barely moved!

    Bio chain oil

The stuff about 12+ yrs ago was horrendous for gumming everything up like that, but most bio oils don't seem to be a problem anymore, sounds more like lack of maintenance on operators part!
  14. Was told to do this by sawyer last year when he milled a big May felled sycamore but I had nowhere to put it upright and as they wer 3" boards I stocked it as usual, used a bit recently and the slight stains planed out!
  15. Spot on!
  16. I agree, I burn/ sell mostly ash and have few complaints, we stack in 4m lengths (4-16") for a min of a year and process straight onto truck/trailer. It does dry very quick once split. Oak is great if you're prepared to store for a while after splitting. Incidentally did you know you can speed seasoning of ash up by putting it in running water? A friend of mine used to form green ash poles and sling em in a stream for wagon shafts (very springy but strong) and according to John Seymours Self Sufficiency you can do this wit bigger ash for milling!
  17. Sounds cool, I'm smiling already! What sort of costs and where is your warlocks lair?
  18. Didn't realise the pistons were so cheap! A much better option then. Sorry to derail OP but, Spud, I have oldish 357xp that would quite like modded as I've read a lot about your skills and would like to feel the difference for myself: what could you do to it?
  19. You could just try replacing the ring, I've done this in the past and it made all the difference ( only about a tenner for OEM ring )
  20. He'd hav to be a tosser not to be delighted, that's great!
  21. I'll laugh at anyone, including me (I've had my share of hilarious and painful mishaps) but on reflection you're right it won't make a difference!
  22. WTF! Can't say it didn't bring a smile to my face, but i don't like to see anyone seriously injured (and it can't do the arb industries rep much good:))
  23. Cold pasta with tuna, red onion etc, but it's gotta be moist!
