  2. Brilliant! However this ticked all my boxes apart from by the time I'd saved enough it'd gone
  3. Nice one Jon will try it out! Ta
  4. Always amazes me how little attention some people pay to air filters: it's basic DAILY maintenance! (Twice a day if we're felling Norway spruce or similar)
  5. Grew up near southwold, nice place, good for sea bass at the harbour mouth, it's always been expensive those huts wer goin for 40k plus years ago
  6. Ha ha, same as!
  7. Amazing tree, all speculation about its connection to witches though!
  8. The Stihl cans are good but if you hav huskys the spouts (particularly oil) are a bit tight
  9. Thanks for kind words
  10. Signed a month or so ago and keep asking others to
  11. This my GSD/Rottweiler yard hound, Molly, she has looked after our place for nearly 13yrs, seeing off many ner do wells ( and a few friends! ). Sadly I'm sitting with her head on my lap waiting for the vet (who she hates for no good reason) to come and help her on her way while she still has a little dignity as her hips have had it and she's refused food for 2 days.
  12. Just out of interest what is the best way to mill rippled logs: quarter sawn or thru n thru?
  13. Use clarkes bio and the Oregon bio £50 and £57 respectively both good
  14. Nice but(tresses) on a south norfolk oak with Eric Morcombe fan
  15. Think the thread is ' mini 4x4 truck'
  16. From FC: sweet chestnut is suited to warmer, more continental parts of Britain (i.e. <1500 mm rainfall per year) on medium to poor soils of fresh or slightly dry moisture status. It is not suited to alkaline or waterlogged soils. Acid sandy loams are an ideal soil type for this species which although cold hardy, is not tolerant of exposure.
  17. I always thought the s stood for Siri as the 4s had it n the 4 didn't?
  18. Mines 94 and 14"s won't fit over hub
  19. 16" easier to find than 15" which my '94 banger runs on, had an old Newton Abbott 4x4 mk2 transit tipper that had 16" rims and I put camacs mt s on it never got stuck (and wish I never got shot of it:()
  20. Think you'll find the problem is they can't upgrade as if you enlarged them they won't tuck into the helmet, we use "fitted" earplugs under defenders when chipping.
  21. LGP Eddie recommended them to me as it's hard to get 15" off rd tyres for transit twin, when I enquiries further a couple of agri engineers I know said they run their tranny s on them and work well, so I've just ordered some.
  22. I have a palax MK 1 combi mobile, turns out 2m3 in about 45mins (10"/12"logs) been looking at replacing it but can't see a big advantage on upgrading to something bigger apart from a powered log deck would save my old arms n back!
  23. Ok so we should try to act in the the trees best interest, then why must the OP remove the tree? It looks like a good pollard height and even possibly been done before, I've found they react well to havin their heads off even when fairly large. It's then on the way to bein future veteran tree:)
  24. It's not my attitude, we do strive to do the best for the trees, it sometimes depends on the circumstance: for example ash trees as mentioned above ideally would've been coppiced but the farmer (who owned them was only willing to allow them to be reduced, the customer (neighbour) wanted them away from his buildings (didn't want heavily leaning ash landing on them and potentially damaging very valuable wagons) could've removed leaning stems only but would've left lanky upright stems more exposed and prone to snapping out so we agreed to reduce by half. I know long term this will cause weakness in the trees (if they survive probable future chalara attack) and related this to both parties. We made the best of a bad job, is that unethical of my business?
