  1. I see they're made off 'wood wool' I've seen similar product made with miscanthus grass, have thought about selling with logs Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Fuelsell near me do these: Don't know how good they are though Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I think they manufacture them don't they, unless you're after another producer?(same product different name) Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. Cool, I presume a turner can do similar in wood? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  8. After years of using the wee flat files, that don't last, I started using a large file like Jackalope and then bought a bar dresser 2 years ago and it is excellent, I was a bit dubious of the cost of replacement files but I'm still using the same one, I do take burrs off first (slight bevel) to help keep the 90 angle Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Not necessarily, think about that lot on watchdog a while back! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  11. And his own Wall of Death[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Before even considering spraying any herbicides I would want to get to know the wood, is it old/site of ancient woodland? What other flora do you have? Orchids? Bluebells? Ferns etc? 1.5 acres of slashing won't take that long, is harder graft but more satisfying and won't potentially devastate a habitat that has taken many yrs to establish. I have only ever used chems in woods for stump treatment (painting on not spraying) except v recently for Japanese knotweed. Top ad vice from 10bears and matelot Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Very sad but everything's gonna die at some point. Maybe it should be given a lifetime achievement award as well as tree of the year, might perk it up a bit[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. That's a classic, was put to good use in the church massacre scene in the film kingsmen Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    X-Cut

Personally, I'm a big fan of most things husky in spite of having lots of trouble with the early 550xp s. My 560 has behaved impeccably for over a year of felling work apart from worm gear thread stripping and the clutch springs have a tendency to break, the only time my t540 missed a beat it was only a matter of tightening the bolts on the barrel. Their bars seem to have been majorly improved in the last year and no longer appear to made of folded tin foil. I'm by no means convinced by the vids (why all arborists not foresters/fellers?) and would like to see how they perform for myself but all my .325s are 1.5mm, so I guess it'll be awhile. The OPs profile clearly states he/she's a husky uk rep so maybe dish out the odd bar n chain for some of us to trial? If they're that good what's to lose? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. When you posted that I thought 'oh good grief, how sad is that?' Then I watched it.... Now I want to play[emoji15] May have a lot todo with the fact I haven't been able to saw after hernia op and I'm bored (even done VAT paperwork 3 weeks early!) Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. My first thoughts were it looked more like a climber flowering! Unfortunately it's the only pic I have until I can drive again (next week), I will see if he can get a better one before though Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. A friend doing a reptile survey on a development site sent me this photo of foliage turning white on an ash and wondered if I knew what's caused it, lm unable to go have a look having just had hernia op, he said owner and developers want rid but lpa have said retain so is wondering if something been poured on roots? Sorry pics not a huge help! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  22. Totally agree, the only reason some people are operating this way is cos of grants and I can't see how it's sustainable (either economically or environmentally)in the long term. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. All brilliant but particulary like the dinosaur for some reason Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. For years I used various masks bought by the pack some of which same/similar to links on thread, for emptying charcoal kilns and never found any prevented charcoal dust from getting in for very long (3 or 4 masks a day and I could always 'hack up some black' after an he or so). Chap down the road is a vehicle sprayer and he suggested a paint sprayers mask, think they were about £20 a pop but 2 have lasted me 3 yrs, they have replaceable pre filters (and, ironically, a charcoal based filter). I'd have thought they would be good against spores as well, they're sturdy an come in a re-sealable bag so you can keep in vehicle without deterioration, you know when they're used up as you can no longer breathe[emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Thanks chaps, sprayed last w/end so will give another dose next week and see how it goes, I told agent management plan is in place Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
