Shame you dont live in dorset as I could have helped ,its hard to find a good workspace it took us a year but 4 of us clubed in together all doing diffrent things from chainsaw carving/ milling ,stained glass and welding ,you are welcome to come down and work with me in the yard anytime no worries hope you find a place soon Cheers Mark
  2. No wedges surley that will make the saw work harder and he didnt seem to rev the saw to clear it after the cut either i was told to do both by Rob D so might help if you told your mate only trying to help Cheers Mark

Hi Rob I did a load of sweet c nut about 7/8mnts ago and I did that through and through and according to the customer who I bump into every so often it has stayed nice and flat and he didnt even stack it right I did try to tell him but you know how some people can be ,how did it mill I have done 2 lots the first lot was a demo with the mill for a mate who then got one from you ,that one cut like a knife through butter but the next sweet c nut I did wasnt so easy maybee I got my angles slightly out Cheers Mark
  4. Hi Kev the beech looks good on the ends but just havent had time to mill ant yet I will post some pics when I do Hi Sandpiper it will have a brace when I put it all together I just wanted to post some pics will post some more when finished Cheers Mark
  5. Sorry Prj didnt see your question as I said probs with danish oil but hopefully another member is going to send me some pre-cat spray so I will see what that is like ,any suggestions. Cheers Mark

Thanks guys for your cool comments its taken too long to be honest about 3wks ,I milled the planks with my alaskan so ive done the whole lot myself ,its for a customer they had the tree come down in the garden and wanted dinning table ,this is the one ive had problems with danish oil on but it was on the underside of the top ,it should take me another few days to finish it and then I will post some more pics Cheers Mark

  10. Hi jaclal I am only in dorset and have a 4ft alaskan so if you want to have a deal give me a ring my numbers are on another post worth milling from last week as yaffle says you can get some cool figuring so get in toutch if you want to have a go at milling it Cheers Mark

Hi guys I asked a few weeks ago about what product to finish a dining table with I went with dainish oil as I had a big can of it in the workshop but it took like 3weeksto dry i know its a bit cold and damp in my workshop but never had this happen before do you think its gone funny with the cold look forward to hearing what you all think Cheers Mark

Hi talking about chains you should be getting a much better finish on your boards than that its quite rough you should be using a ripping chain as for a saw that breaks down often that would get to me I would save up and get a good saw it will make milling a joy ,I have had fungus like that just treat it with an anti mould stuff hope this helps Cheers Mark

  20. THanks guys I was only going to warm up the workshop a bit with space heater not try and dry the oil as its my first dinning table got to be sure about the finish will post some before oil and after oil pics Cheers Mark

  25. I will always haggle I love it if you do it with a smile and some humour most people will at least laugh if not drop their price ,when I am at shows with my chainsaw carvings about half my customers will haggle I dont mind as I do it ,its fun Cheers Mark
