  1. Nice work very similar to what I make I have an old sewing machine base but It has an oak slab on it will post some pics of it keep posting pics like to see what other people make Cheers Mark

Like a few have said chemichial anchor i am building a lean to and fixed 4 brackets to the concreate in my yard to hold the bottom of 10 by 10 cms uprights drilled holes in went the anchor glupe and threaded bar 100mm long bolted brackets down 10 min later no worries ot going anywhere good luck with your shed Cheers mark
  3. HI Skyhuck so while milling even with a short break between planks ,coffee etc the chain would not cool over much so as long as I loosen the chain at the end of the day it should not dammage my crank I hope what do you think Cheers Mark
  4. Thanks Rob Will get winch set up for next time I use the mill I have some ceder of leb to do for myself as soon as I get some time buliding a lean to in my yard at mo , Hi skyhuck what do you think I should do then as I cant mill with a slack chain Cheers Mark
  5. Thanks guys I kind of thaught that was what was going on will have to get a sprocket nosed bar from Rob D only £200 money well spent how much heavier would an aux oiler make the mill set up its heavy enough as it is Cheers Mark

Hi guys I have another one was milling some big oak yesterday and had to keep adjusting my chain tension could this be down to me having a solid nosed bar not a sprocket nosed I think Rob D mentioned something about it when I did a day with him but that was ages ago Thanks in advance for your thaughts Cheers Mark

I would look at hudson saws the importers are called just saws I think for an 18 inch wide cut they are about £2000 I have the phone number for them around somewhere I will look it out and post it up for you I am saving up for one myself I think woodmizer are doing a saw at about £4000/5000 so I would go for the hudson defo but other people may differ Cheers Mark

Hi a lot of carvers I know use motorcycle lifts they can take a lot of weight and jack up and down quite far have a look on e bay they are about £150 I intend to get one as soon as my lean to is built check them out defo the best thing I have seen for holding carvings whilst working on them Cheers mark

Hi not sure when dammage happend I dismantled the mill to use the big saw for a bit of felling then at a show re assembled mill but when I fired it up to start with as I bliped the throttle the chai went very slack so i tightend it up but the chain did not seem blunt but I have had the chain bind a few times when exiting a cut maybee that caused it I spose I will have to do some milling and see what happens ,any excuse to get the mill out I have a nice big stick of ceder of leb waiting in the yard ,and no I cant remember a log taking a long time to mill Cheers Mark

  22. Hi Tony I know what you mean wish I had my mill 10yrs ago a few teething probs but I will soon sort it building a lean too at my yard so even the rain will not be able to stop me I love turning over the first cut and seeing what the grain is like its like opening a prezzy every time ace
  23. Yeah, I was really lucky getting wood like that from my first ever use of my Alaskan and I really enjoy hearing what everyone sees in the pattern, loads of different stuff - I should name it the Rorchsac (not sure how to spell that!) Table. Cheers for your feedback, Mark
  24. Would like to show you some pic's of the table I've just finished using some gorgeous book-matched spalted beech planks, which were also the first planks I milled when I got my Alaskan mill. This one's also for sale, so PM me if anyone's interested! Cheers Mark
  25. Hi Agg I am using home made wooden wedges but now you mention the end of the cut I have had a few times when the saw has not come clean out of the cut sort of snagging up do you think I should get some new wedges or just tap them in further Cheers Mark
