  1. Log burners been blasting out all evening, hot bath, glass o malt and under floor heating all on to sort the aches from the pains:thumbup:
  2. Appreciate where your coming from, morning T shirt, afternoon Gortex n Flexothaned up as if going over top o Snowdon. Gloves on wood stove as we speak
  3. Started out clear and brisk, this afternoon turned into a beast, :thumbdown:high winds, driving rain and a mower and strimmer that both decided to quit. 2 gortex jackets, flexothanes and boots all decided to give up the ghost. How was your day?
  4. Me too. What got me was how much they saw the bigger picture once they'd been up into space. Plus they all got on with no obvious boundaries other than simply being humans.:001_smile:
  5. Yeah they all seem to have the same style, same typos and should all have a big sign saying buyer beware!
  6. When I posted using ladders it was highly frowned on. I've done a few lately using the silky or the ms 150 and a tripod ladder n gotta way with it. Got a few bigger Connies to do in the coming weeks where I'll probably use ladder to get up and then climb higher using the ropes.the cons are roughly 50 footers dropping into a big garden.
  7. It's awe inspiring, Stephen Hawkins, the space station and wow didn't realise that they circulate the earth 16 times a day or how thin the atmosphere is.
  8. Anyone watching it? What really strikes us is how humble the astronauts are and how they all seem to see the bigger picture. They don't seem to have any political boundaries and just appear to want us all to work together to benefit the planet and people:001_smile:
  9. I've just started turning but that's awesome. Most of my attempts to date have either split, or when attempting turning a bowl they are flying off the lathe whenever I make contact with the bowl gauge.
  10. No can't come back yet, need to get up and paint the facials. We are really lucky to have a colony of 30+ house martins that nest under the facia. They normally arrive with the Swallows.
  11. That's some tree, photoshop?
  12. Have a look at the Roughneck Loggersmate at Toolstation £80. Looks pretty robust and folds flat for storage. Roughneck Loggers Mate Catalogue p152 Lightweight and portable wood cutting bench that is easy to assemble. Adjusts automatically to grip logs from 50mm up to 240mm diameter. Ready for use, no part assembly required. Can hold maximum log length 4m and maximum weight of 150kg. LWH: 1150 x 380 x 900mm. Weight 10kg.
  13. I sharpen my spade, hoe n edging iron for gardening once a week, razor sharp makes works in the garden so much easier. For stripping bark I use a big mutt again super sharp.
  14. Blackthorn in flower, helped finish off a fell on a Sycamore today and sap was leaking out. We have Welsh Poppies in flower in the garden. The trees in flower are a lifeline for our bees, they have been in the hives throughout the winter and now is the start of their foraging.
  15. Hi Barry Pm sent Cheers Mac
  16. Ours has been a life saver this winter with the house being not being on mains gas. We have Calor tank but it only goes on when the frost is on the inside of the windows. Fire is great warms living room, bedroom, stairs and landing. Should have gone for one with a back boiler to run the heating but it was too costly. We are ripping through the logs at a pace, almost run out of last seasons. The hardest work I find is sourcing decent kindling, hasn't been so bad the last week or so with the odd job to replace wind damaged fence panels, they burn great, build up a good ember bed for the logs to add to. Bought a small domestic log splitter(7 tonne splitting force), about to buy a scheppauch log saw to save on using the chain saw. Oh and the Fiskars X10 and X27 make light work of most of what's left. Love splitting logs very therapeutic.
  17. Don't forget to factor in time to attend meetings with the client and if its a local council they will want to see how you are going to maintain the site to an agreed maintenance standard. You might find it easy to work out the time it will take to do each element that is needed, grass cutting, litter collection, hedge trim etc and include cost for removal of debris, cuttings etc. Most important if you are submitting a bid is to demonstrate how good you are at being flexible in your approach and what else you are offering. These days most want to see more for less. You should also include the usual certs and docs. Sorry if any of this is telling you what you already know.
  18. Great Pete, Can you pm me when would be good to call in. Rob looks like he might also have some so if you can both spare a few bits be really appreciated. Rob, anything really would be great as long as I can get it in my Transit Connect. It's for a friend who is a fellow beekeeper and has joined the U3a he asked me for some bits for them to start off .I have some Apple, Pear, Damson and Tullip that I was going to use on my lathe and have sorted some for them. That said they seem really keen and rightly so on Lime as its a carvers dream. The few bits I had are really only food for the fire now, mouldy wet and too many splits. I can always block it for them if you have any you can spare. Many thanks
  19. Hi Pete, just a couple of pieces to get the group started. I can collect if its not too far.
  20. I can offer free grass to anyone who wants to come and cut it, must be prepared to cut and collect at least once a fortnight.
  21. Wonder why he doesn't accept returns:lol:
  22. Hi Guys, hoping someone in or around Formby can help me out with a few pieces of Lime that they may be willing to donate to a group of pensioners that are starting a whittle and carve group with the U3a. Unfortunately the few pieces I had are too sodden and mouldy to be of any use. Please pm me if you can help, many thanks in anticipation.
  23. You guys...
  24. Thanks for making me laugh mate:thumbup:
  25. Oy Oy! That's just downright taking the proverbial. Books aka copy for accountant, me and Revenue:001_tt2: sorry to disappoint or create a false image but no all legit I'm afraid coz I've seen Revenue in action and definitely not pleasant.
