  1. All good Si, Been working with Clay rather than the saws. Hope to get back carving in the next few weeks, potential work on a commission for a school so best get the saws out soon.
  2. Great work and seriously that Hedgehog is the superb. They will fly out in garden centres.
  3. Nice work Si, love the character in the owls
  4. That'll be a popular carving at this time of year.
  5. Great piece of work. I bet that didn't hang around too long. Welcome and looking forward to seeing more carvings.
  6. Mousey Thompson would be proud of that. Great job Rick.
  7. Top handle doesn't give you the control for carving, not a safe option unless you have the wrist strength of Kong and the skin of Godzilla. Rear handle give you the grip n control.
  8. Like it and love the expression you have caught.
  9. Like the style of these Si, very effective.
  10. Thanks Si, still got a bit to do, but will thin down the wings and tail and then make an attempt on the face. Will try to call in at some point.
  11. Thought I'd have a go at a flying Owl.Still got the detail, burn n sand etc to go.
  12. Thanks Ian, will be trying your advice on the next batch.
  13. Hey Ian, no offence taken, just glad of the feedback. I get really frustrated at what I produce as it's never the same as what's in my head. Many thanks for the comments and if you have any tips on shaping the talons. Do you use saw, dremel or carving chisels?
  14. Many Thanks, not sure why but they do sell and people seem to like them. I have sent too many to the log burner and need to step up my game.
  15. Many thanks, still not what I had in my head, but other people seem to want to buy them as I make them. Thanks again
  16. Good work Si, love the ruffled feathers and I'm sure I stayed in that dwelling on holiday a few years ago:biggrin:
  17. Had a little bit of free time earlier today. So worked on this. Still not quite what I hoped, they never are. Still finished and sold before I could transform him into firewood.
  18. That's a great meerkat. Good Luck with the future.
  19. I'm on my second Proxon long knock grinder, motor blew on the first one, not up to any heavy pressure use the replacement for very very light touch sanding with sabur disc. Recently bought an Arbortech mini grinder and was quite impressed with first use, not so impressed with second use as it started spluttering and today's third use it simply packed up. Had it since 9th Jan and it's going back tomorrow. I like the new Stihl carving bar which is very similar to an r7 tip and I love it, using power tools less and less because of it.
  20. Nice work, what wood did you carve from?
  21. I have a customer who needs a carver for a 3m tall Alder stump. It's up against 6 ft boundary fencing, customer wants an owl. Pm me if you are interested and I'll pass your details on. Many Thanks.
