  6. Many thanks, the good news is it's sold already. The eyes are glass beads, type used around indoor plants, sprayed black and Gorilla glued and put in with an 18 mm speed bit. Get something like 80 beads for a couple of pounds.
  7. Thought I'd share my latest effort. Appreciate the real full time carvers may find my dabbling a bit off... Used my ms150 and sabre disc..feedback appreciated.
  8. Ps meant to add that even in summer to the ill equipped the mountain is a killer. People seem to think oh what can we do today.. Oh hey let's go to wales n climb Snowdon... It can't be so bad it's got a train going to the summit. Wind speeds can exceed 150 mph and temps in winter can plummet to - 20. Take care my friend.
  9. If you have limited experience stay off Crib Goch, come back and do it on a fine sunny day. There are plenty of alternatives that are challenging.
  10. Had mine for a while now, don't think you'll be disappointed its a very handy addition to the tool box.
  11. Great idea, he is a grafter (takes after me), I am putting feelers out with local guys to see if anyone has an opportunity. Many thanks.
  12. You are a star, thats an awesome offer, thank you.
  13. Yes Thanks. He can go to Myerscough near Preston or I believe Croxteth Country Park has a training facility and thats not far at all. Hope all is well with you.
  14. Any help point us in the right direction... what qualifications and training does our youngest need to be looking at to start out working up in the canopy. He is 22 and is unsure if he needs to focus his budget on aerial rescue and tree rigging or the equivalents of the old Cs30-Cs31 etc or does he need to complete them all. He has already completed Irata Level 1(Which I believe contained aerial rescue elements). If anyone can help by pointing us in the right direction that would be a great help and much appreciated.
  15. Sorry missed that one, but onto it now. Many thanks
  16. Thanks, got a non return valve on order along with bolt down sealed chamber cover. Luckily the tanks where emptied on Christmas Eve otherwise it would have been real grim, especially as we have neighbours tanks in our garden and guy who emptied said neighbours was full. Lucky lucky lucky. Found out today the Environment agency are scheduled to turn 10-12 main pumping station off in West Lancs by Sept 2017. :wtf
  17. Good to catch up Si, many thanks for the offer. Really lucky not to have water come in house, big thanks to Colin and Geoff for the pumps that saved the day.
  18. Good to catch up Si, many thanks for the offer.
  19. Still draining Jon. Every time it dries out, it rains again. No flood at the moment. Next week will be busy building up the defences after work.
  20. Really good for the stomach muscles though:001_smile:
  21. Drying out quickly today Jon. Just been out with the chrome to drag out the debris washed down the brook. Amazing how the weed and twigs can reduce the flow. Brook is back down by at least 4ft and the river by a good 10 -12 ft. Both are draining water away at a pace. Fingers crossed for the next few days, at least until the landscape suppliers all open on Monday.
  22. Finished mowing on the 23rd Dec and will be back to it on Monday, take the hover for the damper sites and the way the weather's been that'll be more than half of next weeks mowing.
  23. Thoughts are with the people of Croston, which is a lovely village not that far from us. We wish you well and hope you stay safe and bounce back from the recent recurring flooding.
  24. That's really very kind. Many thanks, we should be ok the next few days.
  25. Hi Guys, many thanks for your kind thoughts and messages. Thought I'd post an update...we are good thankfully. Been trying to buy a petrol pump for the next time, which actually maybe in the early hours of tomorrow. Sadly every one here is out of stock or closed, so may be hiring one tomorrow, depends on how bad it is in morning, don't like buying off the net but if they can get one here tomorrow, so be it. The brook at the back of the house has dropped by 3 ft, the main river is down too by about 8ft. The garden is drying but still like walking on porridge. I have a plan that will incorporate a raised walkway around the lowest point of the house with 18" footings breeze block wall back filled with crush n run and lined by a water proof membrane. Along with 3ft wall to rear of the house, probably build this as a raised bed. This will keep water away from house. Unfortunate that most landscape suppliers up here aren't open til 6th jan, so making temporary defence until then, BnQ trade card has been handy. I will be building up a store of sand bags to boost the future defences, along with a non return valve on the septic tank. When we bought the house it had no record of flooding, the original flood prediction was once every 200 yrs. All those calculations are tosh, this weather is most definitely part of the Ice/ glacier melt and the effects that has on the Gulf n Jet Streams. So lucky to have had the tanks emptied on Christmas Eve. Our thoughts are with those less fortunate and have seen the flood enter their property 3 or 4 times in a month. Told Mrs Macca that we will not be a flood statistic. Once again many thanks for your thoughts n kind messages, will post pics of the work as we start.
