  1. Ha ha the tractor trailer that bought it in for us would take a while!
  2. this very interesting bit of oak. Not sure if anyone would be interested?
  3. Hopefully those nails haven't tainted it, planked up for joinery your best idea.
  4. Ah brilliant, what a good idea!
  5. Dads, good practice apparently!
  6. Thanks, still a way to go but I'm hoping it will be ready for Xmas lol
  7. Just thought I'd share my attempt at a new bed for me and the wife, dads amazing at joinery so with his guide here it is. Just a little left to do
  8. Oak wants to be an inch per year at least, softwoods a lot less. My personal advice would be air dry as long as you can and only kiln when and what's needed. We kined some 2" boards after a year and they were ruined!
  9. And for anyone else interested, oak off cuts by the bundle
  10. We sell bundles of oak planking off cuts. Sizes vary from 5mm to 2mm and lengths up to 3m from where we trim beams etc. If your after rough sizes and want to save money. £20 a bundle. ( roughly 1/2 tone a bundle)
  11. That's even better, breakdowns cost money so getting fixed quickly is important for us
  12. One thing to mention is whatever mill you go for, make sure the parts back up is efficient. Some mills we looked at were very good but with no agents in England, any thing goes wrong or if you want advice. Try ringing Slovakia to explain something ha ha
  13. Boxed heart ok?
  14. Oh not sure if you can? Sorry best bet is google it or someone else may have more help than me
  15. We have supplied both larch and oak to span widths greater than this, as long as the timber is sound and man enough most woods should be fine. If you can get away without using a center support the end product will look nicer.
  16. goid, needs a bit of work but we have plenty of oak this size we have elm yew and ash slab bed but like people have said above these will all need finishing
  17. I think if you save every thing to I cloud it might help, google the problem that should help
  18. Yes the stumps yew, j have 3 of them would make a lovely table !! Just very heavy
  19. All milled about 7 months ago
  20. We have some lovely yew, some olive ash and plenty of interesting oak. Bit unfortunately our kiln is t running at the moment.
  21. We have just milled two lorry loads of this stuff for ec forest products in Sussex they might be after some more. Worth ringing them, there part of the venables lot
  22. We have some 45mm olive ash and some 4" not sure about 2 though. We are milling some ash in the next week or so so ill make sure I mill some for in the future.
  23. Unfortunately all the while the timber was waiting it would not really dry, it literally has to be planked to start drying properly. We have trees that have been dead a year or so and are as wet inside as they would have been when felled. All be it the sap would be dry the heartwood definetly is green still .
  24. There going to be worth a lot of money I a few years to the right buyer, drying will be a very long process but well worth doing slowly and safely! English oak planks and burr seems to be very daughter after at the moment what with so much European timber coming in to the market. Lovely pics
  25. Would love to charge 35 for out beams, not even graded is that much!
