  1. We have a vast supply of beams that have been air drying over the years so yes if your in the area feel free to pop in, prices do vary depending on size etc and how friendly were feeling 😜
  2. Shame your not nearer Sussex we have some lovely old beams that make beautiful mantles, don't go reclamation you'll pay way over find a sawmill with old beams or fencers with old stock
  3. Just a little note, we used to go through loads of blades due to snapping, the one single way we stopped this is by letting them rest once one has been used we cool it up and don't to uh it for at least 24hrs before we then set and sharpen. Haven't had any snap on us in a long while and as said earlier the only thing we can moan about is how sharp they are, but that's done in house lol
  4. Shame your not near us we can mill 2m wide accurately with our new milk
  5. We buy elm for starting at £3 so for us to the. Mill it like you etc for an extra £4 on top! Not really worth it u less his a very very nice man lol
  6. We have a lot of waney edge ash and some elm air dried but not kilned
  7. Ha ha anti sawdust clothing!! I have given up now I just change completely after sawing and have saw specific cloths! Sawdust gets everywhere!! Defo reconend ear muffs though! Dust masks are good but I always find you then can't wear goggles without them misting up! So I just wear goggles and muffs now
  8. No sawmills near you? Might be worth having it milled up if you can't get the most out of it?
  9. We always used to rotate and take the best burrs off, this was the customers wish to through and through it
  10. Sorry not the best photos as the slabs are taped up but a bit there
  11. We just milled up a 7 tonne oak burr for a customer just through and through, he specialises in planks wtc and that's what he wanted the burrs did show in the mudulery ray which looked lovely
  12. Ha ha no I'm sure moat bits would be available from industrial sullpiers, best this is chat with others who have the same mill they will tell you more than any sales rep or website can
  13. Not bad prices are there parts backup good? Aftercare is a big must! Especially when your pushing the mill to it's limits!
  14. Not ultra critical but you do need to get as near as damit, the heDs are set to the bed so should cut as well as there set up, the levelling is more so the motors don't have to work as hard to move up and down the bed, also to have a crane that would lift the size of logs these mills could cut would almost require a seperate trailer! The trailers and heads are designed quite light to help travelling and easy set up so again. Crane would make them a lot heavier to tow around.
  15. This is how we qtr saw our boards the top and bottom lumps are then re sawn on a smaller mill, notice the medullary ray which is only visible on oak if I'm not mistaken
  16. That's a big log! Also hope that's not a nail?
  17. Some wicked mills, good to see what people have at there disposal. Oakley is that home made?
  18. No ours are both now static mills, when you popping in to see them?
  19. How about we all throw some pictures of our mills up? Woodmizer, timber king even a stennar! You use it so show it off. Mobile or static
