  1. Sounds good, I assumed they were green. Can't wait to see so e more photos
  2. This looks amazing, like the others I can't wait to see it progress. I'm interested to see how it relaxes if the rings crack out anymore or not.
  3. If you can get it to a mill or get someone in to mill it with a chainsaw mill
  4. If there was a full proof one all the mills would have one, if yours does work please let us all know because nails are the Bain of this job
  5. Sometimes you will see a bit of blue stain on the bottom of the trunk this can indicate metal but not always. We have never found a full proof way we just go on if it's a hedgerow tree or out of someone's garden, we use an old blade as much as we can. Big beech on here bought a bit of yew for us to mill and it looked fine, ended up having more metel in it than the local scrap yard! 😜
  6. Have you rung the dealers to see if they will price match
  7. Set works once your used to it is a doddle, but agreed the old manual system is so easy. Our wm1000 is artworks and our lt40 is the old manual system
  8. Woodmizer? Parts readily available very common but that many users can't be wrong?
  9. What about secondhand mills? eBay does throw up a fee here and there
  10. Bm trada are a company that offer advise and guidance for anything wood based, for instance we grade beams but to do that we have to be assessed each year by trada. They should be able to guide you in the right direction. The other thing is to google local sawmills, they will and should know reputable people in the fields you need. Engineers to erectors they will know good ones and bad ones etc
  11. Trada would be a good place to start for advice, we would be happy to help and advice shame your in Wales, however we did supply timber to re build the Talgarth mill in South Wales
  12. Those winner mills were up at the big forestry show in Germany they were impressive but bit to heavy for England
  13. In hindsight prob a good job you didn't get a container load! Should put your one back in the box in case they become rare lol
  14. My dads been sawing for 32 years so some should be dry enough!
  15. We have got a field full of English beams all air dryed, some straight some with charector
  16. We earn a living off an lt40hd that's a good price, you can buy parts for the mizer easily and cheap as long as it runs sound should be fine
  17. Well it's not going anywhere fast so no one needs to rush bit we won't mill it as the grain will be everywhere and although we might sell one slab as a table to sell the hole lot! Might take a while and would rather see it sculpted if poss
  18. Milling in wind is the worst, rains ok the colds ok but I hate wind, it just gets sawdust everywhere !!
  19. Hmmm actually were running out of killed but we have got some amazing planks being dryed slowly so by the time you get round to it they should be kilned haha
  20. Glued pegged and bolts for the side runners
