  1. true, but its usually minging lol
  2. class 2 is an unnecessary expense. they have only recently been brought into the industry to placate the health and safety nazis that saw a number in a book! In reality they offer only a very small increase in protection but due to the heavier weight, bulk and an increased risk of exhaustion due to heat, its arguable that they put you at greater risk due to impaired judgement. Buy a better pair of class A instead!! imho, of course!
  3. haha, never thought about the moped analogy! The 550 is a superb saw but overkill for your needs. the 545 i mentioned is a de-tuned version of the 550. Same weight, chassis, features...just not as mental! No such thing as too much power 😜😜😜 but you can save a few quid and still have a very capable saw. Wearing the trousers is important even when its a hot day. (suggest cutting when its cooler!) Chaps are cheap for a reason. They are an awful fit and are made from cheaper materials so will typically have 8,9 or even 10 layers of cut protection to meet the CE standard (and feels like a duvet wrapped around ur legs) Whereas a decent pair chainsaw trousers are only 6 layers due to higher spec materials and are lighter too as a result. There is no advantage from a cooling perspective, when wearing chainsaw trousers dont wear regular trousers/jeans underneath (dont go commando tho lol...chaffing 😃) Buy 'type A' trousers which have protection at the front of the leg only so the backside is only 1 layer of material thick, same as chaps but a much better fit. The only time chaps are cooler is if you arent wearing troursers underneath too in which case ur ass is hanging out! Buy some nice fitting leather gloves, no need for ones with saw protection, they are a waste of money!
  4. Hi rob, top handle saws are restricted because the handle placement (top and side) makes them less stable than a conventional back handle. its unusual that find them more comfortable than a back handle type, but you will soon get used to it! There are many good saws available from the main brands but steer clear of the cheap chinese internet crap. buy from your local dealer where you can good support for the saw and have access to spares etc. remember to include in your purchase some decent chainsaw ppe especially if you are going to be using the saw a lot. comfortable trousers and boots are more important than a saw with more power and bells and whistles than you need. 40-50 cc is enough power for your needs. think about budget, allow approx £200 for some half decent ppe, whats left...you have to spend on a saw. For a semi-pro/heavy domestic use saw, £400 upwards. cheaper saws available of course, a reasonable main brand domestic saw is around £200. My reccomendation if ur feeling flush..a husky 545, (semi-pro/pro 50cc) Cheaper alternative 135 (35cc, good domestic).

    pmsl...yeah right!
  6. lol, thanks but will pass...a nice project when i get time! been busy all week doing R&D work on AT 😜
  7. Autotune does alter the advance / retard of the ignition. The magnets are several degrees forward of where they would be on a non AT saw. The energy is discharged by the microprocessor depending on the engine speed and throttle position, behaviour, eg opened from idle to full throttle or indeed reverse. When the stop switch is pressed, before the AT system stops the spark and thus stops the saw, it shuts down the fuel valve and places itself into 'start up mode'.
  8. i personally have not looked into this but our companies h&s guy looked into this same issue and had the trailers de-rated to match the vehicle and he is adamant this was to comply not his own opinion. i would guess the cost is minimal and better to be the right side of the law than sailing on the edge of uncertainty. if you get pulled by an over zealous traffic cop or vosa official that hasnt met his quota for the week that decides its your turn for the rubber glove treatment...its grief you dont need. imho!
  9. Patents are best done through specialist patent lawyers, of course they are really cheap per hour and very efficient so they charge you as little as possible! 😂😂😂😂
  10. ...and the upload both done just now for curiosity!
  11. for fun...this speed is on the ipad via wifi of course...even the upload is faster than copper download!
  12. im with virgin, originally i had the 20mb but various free upgrades and about 5 years later, im now on 100mb. Its very good but the download speed seems to be limited by the website host. eg facebook is very slow! great if your downloading a movie etc. i remember my first modem was 9600...on a good day. a 1mb file would take over an hour! now its instaneous.
  13. yes battery r/c helis have excellent performance from the battery but a hard landing / crash, the battery should be scrapped as the li-po batteries used are extremely dangerous and do no not like hard knocks which is exactly what it would get in a tree and rattling around in the back of a truck. The cost of li-ion batteries is signifantly less than lipo too and have a longer lifetime. The motors used on current cordless offerings range from cheap crap brushed to relatively high end brushless induction. If you happen to have about £1million (minimum) kicking around to research, develop, test, pass legislation, market and manufacture go for it!! 👍
  14. dont suppose the people that found it could keep an eye out for husky combi can?
