  1. Unfortunately the donkey is one of those animals that gets treated bad in a lot of cultures. Poor wee fella.
  2. Iv'e just sent ours to a sanctuary. You might find they eat more of the bloomin wood than drag it. They would enjoy a bit of work. But I have had a few close shaves with them. They don't like soft ground due to there hoofs being different from horses.
  3. I would like to find a performance enhancing drug, might get more stuff done in the short days of winter.
  4. Got the magazines through. lots of interesting reading. Good quality paper as well. Adam I liked the article. It is presented in a clear, easy to understand manner. also not rushing into more technical jargon that can put me off reading sometimes. Look forward to the second installment.

:confused1:bizarre:confused1: picture aint him as its a stock picture. Surely ebay must do something about that.
  6. Remember Rudolph is the only one with a red nose. Saves you painting them all!!!! Very nice design.
  7. Just subscribed to the two magazines to see what all the fuss is about.

    Unread posts

Had the same problem Geoff. Thought I might have clicked a button somewhere and removed it from the unreads somehow.
  9. I think the term is peanut skitter. It would be good if they made them in bruised and battered purple and red. Great when waving at passers by as the hawthorn is getting yanked out.
  10. Move them before the soil becomes too cold and unworkable. If you can apply a mulch this will help give them a little protection. I would apply the mulch on a warm(er) day as I don't like mulching on cold soil as the cold gets trapped under the mulch. I would also reduce the hedge by half to have a better root to shoot ratio. I am assuming this is a cherry laurel hedge. Make sure there are no air pockets when replanting. That is my recommendations others may have different ideas.
  11. Got a pair of Ripeur 2's a while back from recommendations on here. Well worth the money. Very comfortable and surprisingly soft.
  12. The Donkey Sanctuary. I'm sure a few of us have had the pleasure of working with them!!!!. Always nice to send them away to a better place where they can be looked after properly.
  13. Raising the bar once again mate. very very nice.
  14. I'm working on bonfire night yippeeee. Got a fair few boxes of the little critters. And started work on the bonfire. Going to try and get it recorded this year. Don't know if the weather is going to be a problem. If i am allowed to upload it to the public I will post the link on here. Love the smell of fireworks. Got them from ghengis fireworks and the service is great but pricey.
  15. I got a Helko Vario 2000 splitting axe from Gustharts last week. Very pleased with it 1.5kg model. Great service as well chaps.
  16. Great thanks. Must be a great feeling when you drive away from a job. Instantly changing the landscape.
  17. What kind of price tag are we talking about to move a tree of that size and replant? Anyone? Very nice piece of kit and some of the other vids are pretty cool as well.
  18. Like the execution as well as the idea of the books. Very clever mate. :thumbup1:

    What gloves?

I've had a look at them before on your site but i've got gnomey size 8 paws.

    What gloves?

Just ordered a pair of your Sugi gloves Rob. Not bothered about your special deal or anything. I'll give them a good run for their money. Always on the look out for a better pair. The orange ones from arco with the black rubber grips are my preferred working gloves. But I do like to use chainsaw gloves if the weather is suitable. I also suffer from the stihls wearing quickly on the inside. If they are no use I can always using them for directing traffic or landing helicopters. bright!
  21. very good chaps Here's some of mine for inspiration (hopefully) You don't need a lathe to make bowls!! Other ales are available. Halloweens unofficial apparently!
  22. Got my phone out today.
  23. Welcome mate. That's looking pretty good. I would recommend giving a light sand with an angle grinder (sanding disc) just to smooth off some of the edges. then have a go at adding a bit of fur detail either with the angle grinder or chainsaw. Blow torch out and you will be amazed as your piece comes to life. Burn in a couple of eyes or add fake eyes if you have them, your first piece will be complete. Be careful with those ears though. I hope this spurs you on as well as the other comments. Good to see you are enjoying yourself. If your still not sure what it is you could try fish scales, leafs or feathers etc. to practice different textures. Then you will have an original!! there are no rules apart from be safe.
  24. Theres a couple of videos here that might be worth a look. I've got the CL3 featured and have had no problems with it. I would make sure you have a good look at the accessories available for any lathe (chucks, bowl turning attachments etc.) as you will no doubt want to expand the variety of work on them. As said above from the pro's a good set of gouges and chisels would be the first thing to look into. Woodturning Category Hope this helps
  25. As I stated in my earlier post I have 50 stamps to get in my MEWP book over the next 5 years to prove my experience. This got me thinking. Would the amount of trees climbed be an indicator. Variety of tree species. Or the biggest tree you have worked on. Would these be more relevant to determining a climbers experience. Do any of you climbers keep a note on these things. Notches on the bedpost so to speak.
