  1. I had timber stolen from site months ago, knew who thief was so visited his house and asked him to make good token sum of £50 or I'd call the police, he was arrogant and more or less told me to eff off. I've just heard he's up in court this week regarding the theft... and would like to pay the £50 for me to drop charges! Not sure if that's even possible now but I've declined anyway
  2. I would say swing all directions to reduce stress on bracket etc as you won't always be picking perfectly balanced loads.

  4. I know nothing regarding background of this situation. However, Dru did some commercial forestry work for me earlier in year and his timekeeping, attitude and work rate can't be faulted, I've no hesitation recommending him to other contractors. As for non payment, I'd have no qualms whatsoever about visiting yard in the morning when he's organising squads for work and not leaving till paid. Alternatively visit his house in evening and again don't leave till paid. Good luck
  5. About ten years ago my Audi went down to three cylinders, popped into Audi garage on way home to be told main ECU blown and £600 repair. Wasn't convinced so nursed it home to local garage... Sensor on cylinder had gone, total repair £16 for sensor and £16 labour.
  6. Get to visit few places round the world working with alcoholic drinks.. Which subsidise my interest in forestry stuff. More interesting places coming up in next few months are Baltics, Balkans, Middle East, Russia.
  7. See below for quote regarding this from arguably the last great leader we had, Whether you agreed with her or not as least she led with conviction, unlike today's lot who pontificate as per the latest headline or focus group report. Anyway, to matter in hand.. It's hard to say where labour will go from here long term, Corbyn's performance over next few days will be crucial. If true that his first engagement is rally in support of immigration then at least he's sticking to form. Hopefully one benefit will be that he punctures the SNP bandwagon in Scotland
  8. Eddie Yesterday there was a digger on forestmachineoperatorjobs Facebook page with 3 point linkage winch on jib, think you have something similar?
  9. Children keen for water and food in Hungary but the men refusing.. LiveLeak.com - Immigrants throw away the food and the water what they get
  10. I'm sure if you think about it and look at posts/history you can tell the difference without needing to meet in person.
  11. Lovely but his long till matted black and more like a stinky goat?!
  12. I'm no fan of Cameron but think in this instance he's perhaps got it right... The UK will accept more refugees but they'll be from the camps in Lebanon etc, not the "queue jumpers" trying to bypass due process and go direct to Europe. It's a mess and no easy answer but giving a green light to the smugglers to get as many people over the Mediterranean as possible is definitely not the way ahead.
  13. Japanese whisky is good, think people are starting to broaden horizons from Scotch
  14. Getting near whisky season again.. dark here at half eight
  15. Ah right, missed that
  16. What was the answer as to why they don't post?
  17. Hope it settles down a bit as I'm meant to be in Lebanon in December.. the FCO travel advice makes interesting reading.
  18. Europe should not be accepting or encouraging migrants for the simple reason it sends the signal that the door is open. And all that does is encourage more and more boat people thus exaggerating the crisis. The cure is not for Africa/Middle East to move to Europe en masse but for the troubled areas to achieve resolution of their issues... And that's a whole other debate.
  19. Or we could even plant them with commercial crop and reap the economic benefit for generations.
  20. Fascinating Aida - Cheap Flights Lyrics Sums them up really, particularly the comment about paying
  21. It's just advertised on eBay and starting auction at that price would be cheapest option, given selling fees also it won't actually be sold through eBay.
  22. First post was that a neighbouring resident requested tree to be cut down, now there seems to be a report, presumably commissioned by PC, saying best course is to fell tree and replant. Where did the neighbour bit come from, am I wrong and he/she commissioned report? It is a nice tree but it is located in an area where people sit, children play etc so if it is past its best then seems sensible enough to simply fell and replant. I may be wrong but there appears to be some hysteria building amongst the "community" without actually knowing all the facts.. Which neither do I and I'm posting here!
  23. How efficient are those gasifier plants?
  24. When I've sold timber to BSL registered suppliers they've just asked for copy of felling licence. The FSC/non FSC split would only apply if the firewood merchant was claiming to supply FSC cert wood to their customers, then the chain of custody cert would apply also. An awful lot of bureaucracy just to burn wood.
