  1. It's not a big pin or ram nor look too old so it shouldn't really be giving grief. That retaining pin wouldn't stop main pin from working its way out same side so there's either another pin or shoulder against that plate which stops the main pin from turning, that would be unusual as normally a feature like that works with an oversize head, not a checked main pin.. Hope that makes sense? What side are you hitting it from?
  2. The pin should come out, just make sure any retaining pin/bolt/circlip has been removed, pressure is off the ram then give pin a batter with the biggest persuader you can lay your hands on and it should move.
  3. Latest iOS. I open arbtalk app then access arbtrader through left hand menu, start listing and when select to load image it drops out to home screen. Edit: I select choose existing image and that's when it crashes. No big deal though, I can do listing from website
  4. When compiling listing in arbtrader the app crashes when you try upload an image.

  6. I had same feeling other night when out cycling as I came down small path towards loch. Realised it was site my Old Man had clear felled when I just have been about 7, I remember being in county skidder cab when he jumped out and then got bit agitated. Turns out he'd reversed over a wasp nest and they weren't happy! Typical FC site which hasn't been replanted and is now just regen hardwood scrub
  7. Palletways for UK, Hillebrand for shipments to/from abroad
  8. Putting my FMG Osa 250 on market next week, good working order and brand new crane control system fitted. Refurbed alternator, new filters and oils throughout machine. Also spares machine, runs and drives though some bits been removed like rear shafts, valve block. £10,000 Also got Lokomo 919 fitted with Kesla stroke processor, can be converted back to forwarder relatively easily, headboard and pins still here. Set chains front wheels 80% 12,000 For next couple weeks or so will be on site and can be seen working, after that they'll be in yard. 1000l ibc hydraulic oil 32, less than three months old. Sensible offers. Located Central Scotland. Will put on arbtrader and other places also as individual lots but thought grouping them here makes it easier to answer any questions. PM or 07825 138865 Edit: I would put on arbtrader but app crashes when I try to upload image
  9. I'll bet if that was a private estate at Loch Lomond that went through a wood poisoning mature hardwood and leaving them standing then all merry hell would break out. I'm just back from cycle not far from Loch Lomond, didn't pass one hardwood plantation (or natural) managed for timber but mile upon mile of stunted worthless scrub. Now biodiversity is great but surely one of the quangos could set out to create a viable timber producing hardwood plantation, strive to create a real legacy like the oak forests of France and USA. Now what an achievement that would be. But no, stunted native scrub is what we get served up. Hectare upon hectare of the stuff.
  10. No bike symbol at all on back of my licence, does have the car and trailer thankfully.
  11. Whether you agree with the removal of the beech or not is one thing Ben. In your example the plan is to actively remove the beech and replant other species, presumably there will also be an ongoing management programme to ensure that woodland doesn't end up usual choked, worthless mess. I'm not sure about England but in Scotland the vast majority of our hardwood is worthless scrub, we certainly don't need quangos creating more! Coming back to this specific instance the issue is that SNH have went through the woodland poisoning/ringing mature trees, they've now accepted that is a major cock up and are going to have to fell the trees anyway.
  12. Exactly Kevin/Agri In the real world someone suggesting that mature Beech woodland should be ringed/poisoned would be ran off the job pronto. Unfortunately for these guys that's just business as usual. Not far from above butchery site we've got SNH putting a beautiful birch and pine woodland under the mulcher as they've been given millions to create a peat bog, next stop along the same road is yet another quango who've been given millions.... To create a native woodland! And let's not forget the rspb at other end of the country who've harvested thousands tons of softwood (to create another peatbog) without the inconvenience of bothering with a felling licence. Look forward to seeing results of FC investigation for that one! And all this while our planting crisis just goes on

  15. Visited Hill 112, very moving and sad. Had a friend who was at 112 (for the "other side") and then fought out of and back into the Falaise pocket. He rarely spoke about what he'd witnessed but when he did... You listened. Thanks for posting the pics.
  16. Yes, has to be major change in attitude of the consumer. Not sure it will happen though. Firewood is a labour intensive, expensive enterprise for a low margin product.
  17. Re buying unseasoned, best point made on thread. Not sure your cost structure is right though
  18. 15 years to get organised so no excuses... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/11733369/Earth-heading-for-mini-ice-age-within-15-years.html
  19. Ah missed that - too tired after caught in T in park traffic chaos!
  20. You said 2" well short of bolsters, 6" right to top??!! I can categorically state if you fill a cube bag (or pick up truck load area) with 6" logs versus 18" logs (without stacking 18" into rows) the 6" will weigh far more. Edit: I agree cube selling is best way and for those customers that would order small logs to get more timber... They need to remember small logs burn quicker!
  21. Tom, smaller logs do pack tighter so more weight per cube. Even your comment above reflects this, the larger timber needs filled to top of pins to hit max weight, with smaller roundwood the lorry uses less space on trailer to reach maximum weight.
  22. One of the companies I work with has two people working full time on website/social media, they say Google changed the search function and it's not just about keyword these days. How often the site is updated, people clicking in from other sites and even Facebook posts/links all taken into account these days Edit: I should say it's obviously not a tree work company that can afford two people to do that!
  23. Working the Google algorithms hard Tom! I'm not a fan of more regulation but the UK public are so urbanised it may ultimately end up that way.
  24. Forestry up here is dire due to strength of the pound and a generally depressed market.
