  1. I don't really see what mobile's gripe is, in fact his post is nonsensical. All the OP is doing is offering raw material, the additional costs are the concern of the purchaser. The OP says "few elms" so more than one trunk possibly
  2. There was holder in back of Jas P Wilsons yard at his recent open day.
  3. Have you tried contacting head office to see if they can help. If not ask for list of dealers, some of them around Europe may have an A60 breaking. http://www.max-holder.com/en/company/max-holder-gmbh/made-in-metzingen/ Hope you find something Edit: they have list of forums for holder owners/aficionados: http://www.max-holder.com/en/company/veteran-vehicles/
  4. I spoke too soon... Straight from Pravda: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1282333/Leopards-big-cats-ARE-loose-Britain--just-dont-tell-soul.html
  5. Old Man found this today in head of a small leaning spruce that had to be made safe. The rabbit was still warm but the chick underneath was dead, some kind of predator* hoarding food is the only reason I can think for this. * Leopards drag their catch up trees though to best my knowledge none have been recorded in central Scotland
  6. Ok will do thanks. It's fairly old forestry machine and it's not unknown in these machines for a sudden jolt to mean wires get nipped against cab or chassis. I'll try find time over weekend to investigate a bit, thanks again for your time
  7. Yes the charge wire was still connected to charge pin on alternator when I tested it. The charge light came on when I slid off a stump and machine received quite a jolt. I could swap alternators to see if fault def in alternator or in wiring elsewhere, just concerned that if is wiring awry then I may cook another alternator.. If this possible.
  8. I've not had batteries off Craig, just the alternator as when light first came on I put meter on alternator terminals and was only 23v
  9. Ok thanks Steve. I should've said I put meter onto main alternator output and charge light output, nothing from charge pin and only 23.6v from main output. Is it possible to have a short with that can "burn out" an alternator?
  10. I had charge light come on few weeks ago and put volt meter onto alternator - not charging. Took it off to get repaired and after a lot of checks the repair company finally found the windings were faulty (a fault than only became apparent when it was under load). They changed windings and tested it on their rig and all good, I fitted it to machine today... Not charging. Is it possible for me to have a fault or short in wiring that is overloading and burning out the windings almost instantaneously? The repair company are going to phone me tomorrow with their thoughts, I also have a spare alternator I can fit in meantime but reluctant to do so in case I do have a fault somewhere else and knacker it also. Thanks in advance for any info
  11. That's good, glad you're sorted. I've got a spare osa 250 for parts but couple bits are out the back already Edit: In about 6 months time once I finish current/future jobs I'll probably sell my 250s and stroke processor, give me a shout if you want first dibs.
  12. That's a pain to do but hopefully that'll be it fixed once and for all. Where did you get the parts from?
  13. Try Doug Perry at cutting solutions, good prices and service. Was £122 for 700mm tct blade about 18 months ago
  14. Villagers win 30-year battle to remove 40ft hedge - Telegraph
  15. Some images, cap for scale only and not included in sale
  16. That's good point re non slip/different properties. Purpleheart weeps oil and is slippy as hell, ekki is hard as iron and has no flex so prob not best suited for lorry bed. Steve - re price it's all long lengths and offcuts so not really much use for you and turning I would say
  17. I've never heard of Kieron wood to be honest, it may be one of the timbers mentioned above (Ekki or greenheart). There's not many hard timbers imported and sawn on a regular basis.
  18. Mainly Ekki & Opepe but some Greenheart & Purpleheart in there too. If you have a stove or boiler this is the stuff to burn, it's like coal. Once customers burn it they always ask for it again. If you're a firewood merchant though you need to be geared up as it's no' for bairns!
  19. You don't get this stuff from your local mill. Only two mills in Europe saw it, the other one is in holland. It's the ultimate firewood but it's bloody heavy.
  20. Been busy today, 5 pickup loads of the offcuts into my shed, rows are two deep in pic so might manage another 5 loads to fill it to brim. If you take time stacking it you can fairly pack it in
  21. Got few lorry loads of these available from specialist sawmill, mixed loads of hw/sw, some ideal for processor as long and arrow straight others chunkier and need broken down by splitter. The hw makes tremendous firewood as not your normal species, burns incredibly hot. Sawmill located just west of Glasgow, pm if of interest. Available on an ongoing basis.
  22. It was same as S Varty's pic second post in
  23. I remember living in flat in Edinburgh which had massive spiders, you used to hear their claws clicking on the wooden floor when they were running across it - and I'm not joking! Was a tenement flat and occasionally you would hear shrieks coming from the stairwell, that was always sign that one of them was out and about saying hello to the girls next door.
  24. There was one of these round the back at Jas P's during his open day. Guessing it was a recent trade in
  25. I can't comment on the building side. Re the road I can't help but think this is a case of British mentality of gold plating regulations at expense of common sense. If there was a road in use at time of woodland TPO and this road is still there, albeit overgrown, with gate and kerbs then I don't see it being breach of either letter or spirit of TPO to cut back vegetation keep this road open. And on practical note, how can any issues be raised by any party re breach of TPO when the TO document they will refer back to clearly shows a road.
