I've used both our 560s last few days. Both are great saws but one consistently has a millisecond bog before hitting top revs from idle, the other screams right away
  2. They're somewhere in region of 11t I think Edit: they're heavier, brochure for my Lokomo says it weighs 11t. The osa is definitely heavier as along with visibly being bigger the lorry which moves them both feels the difference
  3. I just see a tree which pictures show is too near the road and has grown over the kerb, as a result it's now encroaching onto the road and has suffered repeated vehicle impacts resulting in damage from ground level to maybe 10 feet. Do you really need to do assessments to realise that the tree is going to continue to suffer from impacts unless either the road layout is changed or the tree is removed? 10 Bears - you may (or may not) know your stuff but it was really the condescending tone of your post which I was alluding to.
  4. For goodness sake get a grip man
  5. Fell it and replant slightly different location if possible. LA's don't have money to keep maintaining and inspecting a tree that's been battered and will continue to be so
  6. I remember couple getting stuck on forest road and local garage trying to pull them out, we arrived with tractor by chance and couldn't understand why the recovery truck couldn't pull them out. Closer look revealed car was trying to go forwards as truck was trying to pull it backwards!
  7. I always add comment with order if possible advising to living parcel in log shed out of sight. Sometimes it works sometimes you come back to card saying your parcel is in the blue bin
  8. The cab of my forwarder gets quite warm on sunny days so was thinking of replacing the solar blinds in it, the dealer however says they costs £1,000 plus and just to tint the windows. Has anyone tinted windows and does it work well? I'm looking to reduce glare and sun penetration but still want to be able to see on a gloomy morning. Thanks in advance
  9. It was slightly strange here, sun was shining brightly but then got like dusk but more blueish, once that passed it reverted to to warm and sunny again.
  10. lets machine turn tighter and can help get over obstacles. Not sure what size that machine is but the original Norcar was very small so didn't need low loader, I've seen them use small stack of pulp and lifting bogies to get onto lorry.
  11. I could actually do with a cutter. If you're undercutting your own daily rate then no wonder there's so many threads grumbling about prices paid. You have your costs and your rates so stick to them Coming back to the op; there's days of work in those trees, machinery needed, it's not even great firewood.. And the owner wants money for them! All I was trying to flag up was for op to place a realistic value on time/costs and don't be seduced by idea of cheap wood, my experience suggests it'll turn out to be anything but.
  12. Bear in mind though that during those three days you could be doing something more profitable than cutting up ugly dangerous trees. Then once it's back in your yard there will be more processing to do.
  13. I personally wouldn't pay anything, there's an awful lot of work there getting that converted into saleable firewood. And as stated they're very nasty to deal with, that first one is going to malky the fence and possibly end up sitting back onto stump or maybe even slightly beyond

  15. Fiskars 5000 is big old crane for roof of a county. We had one like that for a while, it could lift but nerve wracking on side slopes
  16. I've put box of EHC/ISP stuff up on Arbtrader. I got all the cards and levers tested/repaired and the levers are now showing nice smooth voltage increase. Unfortunately I got fed up with the poor wiring causing downtime so pulled all old ISP boxes etc out and fitted completely new system. A single refurbed ISP card costs £150 plus so bargain for someone running that system.
  17. You won't move as much once in wood but bit more flexibility with tractor/trailer combo. Edit: good pics Elf
  18. Again the chaps at A&B services have been converting diggers for forestry work for 30 odd years. There's quite a few mods they do to strengthen undercarriage and lessen track throwing.
  19. I know couple working Central Scotland but you're obviously bit far away. If struggling to find anyone you could try contacting A&B Services, Killin as they build them and may know of one local to you

  21. It won't be a peach if you don't get paid TCD! Get a drawdown once you arrive onsite, if he can't afford that then I'd suggest you either walk away or better option - buy the timber from him standing and you do the selling.
  22. I know they edit it for entertainment but what a shower of useless buggers. Only one seems to be showing any desire to do something, as for the one without a job for five years....
  23. Have you dealt with the owner before and what are your payment terms? If not dealt with him before I'd be looking for money upfront as soon as the machines are on site as you simply don't need the hassle of a late/non payer.
  24. The writing on ours states they must not be stacked more than 8 high
