  1. Couple from the great lady: “When I'm out of politics I'm going to run a business, it'll be called rent-a-spine” "It used to be about trying to do something. Now it's about trying to be someone.” Someone on here has a good quote from Churchill in their signature: "Kites rise highest against the wind"
  2. I'm not sure exactly what you have fitted but on a rotator the hoses shouldn't really be spinning, might seem daft question but it's not on upside down is it?
  3. Are the hoses too short? I've always just had plenty length to allow for flex and spiral guard to keep them all together, never had any problems.
  4. We had couple of drivers who we used to give fiver/tenner... Log deck loaded, processor size next to it, oversize stacked separately. Everyone was happy and only took them an extra few minutes
  5. I got head torch off amazon for £15. Battery pack sits on rear of your head and is rechargeable from mains, cig lighter or USB. Very, very bright and keeps your hands free obviously, if of interest I'll post link next time I'm logged into amazon
  6. Is sorting it with a digger not just adding another "handle" into the process? Ie still needs another machine to come and take it to the log deck
  7. Lokomo. I actually converted it to processor unit so it doesn't travel much now
  8. Yes and I know Simon - I drive him nuts with my queries, the man has patience of a saint! I'll drop him a mail with pics just to be sure before I take it apart.
  9. Thanks BB, what you're saying re tightening from the rear ties in with what I was hoping. The wheel is driven, it's on an oscillating bogie so I can jack it up to limiter so that oil runs to other side. Many thanks for taking time to respond. Edit: not sure if chain or gear driven
  10. I don't think I've seen a linkage crane that didn't have support legs, you can also get bars which lock up the linkage and take the weight. Anyway... nothing wrong with linkage cranes though one on a trailer would surely be better for bringing timber to your log deck?
  11. There's a bit of play in one of hubs on my forwarder. I inspected it with a view to tightening up bearing but the cap appears to have been welded on. This style of hub is not really something I have much experience with so not sure how best to approach it, I'd be annoyed if I ground off weld and still couldn't tighten bearing. Anyone got experience of these or any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any assistance
  12. Ok thanks. I know Donald and he's a decent chap
  13. I like the splitting system and how it gives nice even sized wood but still too much handling
  14. It's not ideal processor stuff but they should manage it. I would also think there should be slight premium for Apple, must smell lovely in an open fire... Hotels etc. Anyway I'd be looking for £45ish at roadside
  15. Woman I know puts her kiln dried outside to get damp as she says it burns too quickly when dry
  16. Christopher Booker I like because he argues his case well and is always backed up with sources. Geoffrey Lean is staunch advocate of Agw and green policies, he gets pelters from the telegraph readers as he does not fit in with their readership at all. If he's flagging up issues with Green Party then you do indeed have issues. I'm sceptical of Agw as there are enough dissenting scientists to make me look for more info. I'm also old enough to remember scientists telling us it would be an ice age that was going to wipe us out, in more recent times I remember scientists telling us that UK wouldn't see snow again. I also remember when global warming changed to climate change as even the staunchest advocate struggled to explain why no temperature increase for something like 18years. I could go on but you know, for me, the real clincher that the whole thing is a crock of sh** is that not once does population increase gets mentioned. Not once. If we're really facing Armageddon due to rising co2 emissions then why is this never mentioned? Instead all the hype and hysteria focuses on something that can be taxed in various forms and subsidised in others. That's convenient. You can't deny that there's an awful lot of people making a good living or even an awful lot of money out of "climate change" One more point - people dissenting from the herd mentality and challenging dogma should always be welcomed. How long ago was it that our greatest scientists were decried as heretics?
  17. You should seek information from a wide variety of sources then form your own opinion.
  18. I looked at that head but was surprised it could only delimb 35cm although could fell 50cm.

  20. I know it's his job but well done the copper for using his initiative and getting off his backside to make chase.
  21. Hard to tell 100% in photos but actually looks like maybe been pinched rather than worn but either way it's hard to see what it's came into contact with. Edit: just seen above post, twist would make sense
  22. Yes sorry - used base unit
  23. Of course hypro has weaknesses but it's horses for courses TCD, brand new hypro on small wheeled base unit or £70kish of potential heartbreak with a purpose built unit, plus add a new head to unit and you're over £100k and still relying on old base unit. So basically everything's a compromise, bear in mind we're talking about thinnings too where it's very hard to get the value out of timber.
  24. What do you produce from your thinnings John, is timber for firewood, chipping or something??
  25. [ame] [/ame] I wouldn't use that crane or the wheeled base thing either Edit: I'm not sure how good it would be for cutting racks
