  1. Just got this blower (strangely over excited about a blower) Pulled over a few times started up I gave it a little throttle and it died out and now I can't get anything from it. Left it over night tried agin this morning and its not giving me anything. Manual says to start it on half choke. I've put aspen 2stroke in it is that ok? Any thoughts as why I can't get it going?
  2. Thanks for that Ty you have given good honest opinions on plant I have searched for befor (quadchip etc) cheers
  3. Looking at getting a bandit HB20 sidewinder stumpgrinder hopefully get a demo in a couple weeks. I've liked the look of this machine from the first time saw it at a show about 4 years ago. All my work is domestic and want a stumpy that can get through a gate and down the side of a house but a machine that's got some good power to it. Does anyone have any feed back on this machine or similar? I want to get a new machine and at around 8k for the sidewinder that's at the limit. I don't have a lot of knowledge on different stump grinder brands. Always used hired ones or brought guys in with bigger machines. Just fishing for opinions on this machine or similar priced/sized stumpgrinders Cheers
  4. Thanks for replies! Will have a look at a few of these cheers
  5. My dad is after some chainsaw trousers type A's for groundwork He's 6'8" tall and needs a long leg. What do you tall blokes wear?
  6. Yes it's normal It's not a saw your holding down the throttle for long so it's not like your subjecting your self to loads of vibes I've not had a problem with it but I do always wear gloves even when it's hot (suntan forearms and white hands isn't a good look tho)
  7. A dust mask and some aspen fuel would of come in handy but you live an learn:001_smile:
  8. A guy on the stihl stand at Cirencester said they have got someone making a replacement clip. He didn't really sound like he knew what he was on about tho. I love this saw its fantastic but I think "heavy handed" people will abuse this saw. Iv put the 10" bar on instead of the 12 to stop me from using it on bigger bits and I always clip it to my harness so it doesn't get bashed about and caught up on the tree. Just needs a bit more tender loving care IMO to give the saw longevity
  9. Also lost without a watch I don't ever take it off and if it does for some reason I find I'm looking at my wrist every couple mins because my brain needs to know the time. I have a Nixon surfing watch made to take a beating. I have never had it snag on anything in all the years I've had it on but I guess it could I won't wear a wedding ring for tree work tho far to dangerous
  10. Hopefully a 20" will work out well
  11. Vibes are lower on the spec not as low as the 441 tho. I've suffered with bad trigger finger and try not to get it back. Yes I'm interested in the autotune see how it goes. Reading through other threads I liked what I was reading. Other than that its a punt. You can only take other people's opinions so far (which I do appreciate) until you find out for yourself I try to move with the times and I know the 372 is tried and tested but I still like to try out the newer stuff
  12. Thanks for the replies 576xp ordered and should get it Monday Always used stihl saws and wanted to give husqvarna a go to build up my own opinion/knowledge on these saws. 441 would have been my next choice, maybe next time let's see how the 576 performs!
  13. Ok cheers Do you (or anyone els) know the link for the thread?
  14. Love this little saw! But I couldn't get it to oil so took off bar turned it on its side with the oil cap off and ran it to clear air block which worked oil came out straight away. Today lowering the height of a conifer ran out of fuel, refuled and if has hardly used any oil at all. Used 200t to finish off the job until i can get it oiling properly. Anyone had any oiling issues?
  15. Will keep an eye on your thread to see what's happening I went yesterday shame I would of liked to of met you and a few other arbtalkers. Have fun!
  16. IMO I think they say 8" to cover themselves but depending on wood type and how big the bit of metal is it will go a lot deeper. I also don't often find metal in the centre of the tree as people don't start hanging things and nailing into trees until they are a bit bigger I'm sure there are exceptions but that's my experience. All the best in your search hope you find something that suits you Would be interested in what you use if you end up buying.
  17. That is some real talent! Impressive carvings
  18. I bought one from rob d Chainsawbars ? chainsaw chains, chainsaw bars and chainsaw accessories He's also got a video of him using it I wouldn't be without mine I use it all the time and now when I find metal in the tree and mark the spot with a spray can its weirdly satisfying. I normaly just scan the tree from ground level to the hight I can reach as I find this the hot spot for finding metal in domestic trees (yes I find metal higher up but it's not as often as the first 8/10ft) Also quickly scan timber for logging to give me some peace of mind that I've checked for nasties. It takes seconds to check the timber and I find having one in your kit/tool bag well worth having personally as it saves my chains and saves me time. They aren't cheap but it pays for its self in the long run if its something your going to use often. (Dosent detect stones and flints )
  19. I think your right, hasn't the General Sherman redwood had its top blown out at some point in its life?
  20. Thanks for the replies I'm tempted by the 372xp this saw will be mainly used for choging down the lager diameter stems so the weight of the 372 is appealing (im not a hero and would like my joints to last slightly longer) and reading other threads it seems a tried and tested saw.
  21. Thanks guys Cheers stubby What bar do you prefer running on the 372? I was thinking 20"

    Saw choice

Hello fellow arb talkers I need a new saw to fill the gap between the stihl 260 and 660 Until recently I was working with someone who had the 461 which I thought was a good saw. I've always used stihl but would like to try husqvarna so I could build up my own opinion on saw brands but would still like to know your opinions So was looking at stihl 441 or 461 Or maybe husqvarna 576xp? Or something similar What would you choose to fill the gap? Thanks.
  23. This is my newly sign written van. I try to keep things simple but effective Like someone said its like a big business card
  24. Burnt out ash still hanging on
  25. That was brilliant
