  1. As part of a job for a company's car park they want to kill the weeds that are coming out of the curb that runs around the car park. Not something I normally do and haven't used roundup before. Can i strim the weeds down then spray them or should I just spray them and when they are dead go and clear up the mess? Wasn't sure on the best method of using round up. Cheers
  2. "It's going to be cheaper if you take the logs away right? Agree hedge height with customer. Make a cut into the hedge and double check with customer that it's the right height. Get half way through the hedge "could you take it down another foot?
  3. It's electric but you can get it in petrol or pto I wouldn't want to pull it onto a transit without a winch
  4. Stores well
  5. I can pull this up the tailgate ramp on the ifor on flat ground when locked in horizontal position. 12 ton from riko. It is still a bit heavy dragging it about but it's manageable. Your welcome to have a look.
  6. Managed to miss the metal in this one, metal detecter helps out
  7. Have done this before using someone else's stilts a long time ago. I guess you could trip over but I just lent or held onto the hedge as I went and it felt pretty stable. If I had a maze to trim I'd buy a pair but as our various hedge work goes big set of A-frames seems most versatile. Stilts way more fun tho.
  8. I do really like my quadchip it's great for our line of work but I do not like my local dealer at all. Greenmech I have found great to deal with. It's not been problem free but the chipper has a lot going for it. Enjoy!
  9. We have found it very good to burn. Also dries quick. I did make the mistake of splitting and stacking a load straight into the wood shed and sap popped out in sticky blobs all over. We have split it and left it out to weather for a season then stacked it and you will not find a blob of sap on it. The weather seems to wash it off. Think I will try and and split it in the autumn let it wether over the winter and dry it over the summer ready for next winter.
  10. Good advice thanks

  12. Thanks guys, the tree doesn't seem to have suffered for whatever it's had.
  13. Just a quick question, I have a job removing ivy from trees that have tpo's Do you need permission to remove ivy? I wouldn't have thought so but thought I'd ask. Cheers.
  14. That beard is glorious.
  15. Thanks for replies, I thought it was to "neat" for a graft but I don't know a whole lot on the subject, more used to seeing fruit tree root stock grafts etc. I haven't seen a birch like this so it would be great to be enlightened. I guess it could of had something wrapped around it at some point although most of the trees were planted on this housing estate and no other birches have this bark on them and I don't think deer are in the area. Got a few snaps on my phone but I was just quickly passing.
  16. I'm assuming this is a graft on this birch? Any reason why this would be done? Thought it was interesting anyway.
  17. Ok cheers for the replies
  18. Hi all, we ground out a horse chestnut stump in the winter and have had an email from the customer asking for advice on some suckering she has noticed near the stump and along a root. Apart from cutting down the suckers is there anything els we can do? Perhaps digging down and popping Eco plugs in the root if I can find it? Is horse chestnut a real pain for this? Cheers
  19. And may it never turn into a "show us ya arboroids" thread. Lovely bunch you have.
  20. Got ours today Haven't used skyland before but when I phoned they were very helpful and prompt and came across professional. I would defiantly order from them again. Helmet is for my bro so will see how he gets on with it. Looks and feels good tho. John.
  21. Incredibly and sincerely sorry for your loss Truly heart wrenching. I hope for the very best for you and your family in these trying times.
  22. Looks an interesting job Rich nice! Good pile of firewood
  23. Amazon £13.99 cast iron wall hook. It's a bit crude but has the desired effect and not to pricey I thought.
  24. Really nice interesting bits of wood! Love the antlers! But it all looks great I had a go at a coat rack I gave to a friend as a wedding gift. Bit of cherry with iron hooks.
