  3. Cheers Alec I will try and find a number for them
  4. Stab in the dark I know but arbtalk has come up trumps before! I have been looking for a suitable yard for a while now to process logs we get from our tree surgery. I live between wrhotam and gravesend in kent. Does anyone know of any places to try in this area? I use an iveco so I would need iveco friendly access not something I will be getting stuck in. I have been trying farms etc but any any other suggestions of where to look welcome. Cheers
  5. That mime could be misconstrued
  6. That looks interesting stihlben, what's the battery charge/life like on it?
  7. I always wondered about that eyebrow... Keep on plucking Reg
  8. Yeah think I would of had to add an hour or two to the job if I was using a magnum Cheers Rich
  9. yesterday's job Grind this ash stump out. i know its not the biggest stump but its the largest one we have done with the HB20 so far.
  10. Nicely done Rich
  11. Got aspen in my hedge cutter, back pack blower and 660. Don't mind normal mix in my other saws apart from when I'm cutting stumps low down and the saw fumes hit the ground and blast back in my face. I have had some bad headaches after that and I think to myself I should run all saws on aspen. I have never had a headache after using aspen and that is probably the main reason I use it.
  12. Haha no worries, at least you know what they are called. This pair sold on ebay for £46. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251461629863
  13. Hay Jon, I had A quick search and they are called "winch buddy set" this was the first site I clicked on that sold em. Winch Buddy Set
  14. He's probably doing that job for the fire wood.
  15. Is that Stephan Blair?
  16. Ran my 576xp on aspen from new and it would always cut out. Put the regular stuff in and it hasn't missed a beat since. (Still use aspen for hedge trimmer blower and 660)
  17. Probably less maintenance and cheaper !
  18. I was an employe tree surgeon about 7 years ago on £60 a day. A window cleaning round came up and I bought it and and if I didn't earn £25 an hour I was doing something seriously wrong. I used the round to save up for a few years to buy all my tree surgery kit. Windows is good money but I love tree work and it's much more interesting
  19. I have a job in ashford Wednesday It's won't be a full load but could do with tipping it in ashford. Will give you a call tomorrow cheers
  20. It's a difficult one trying to find a van that hasn't been overly abused as it's the nature of a working vehicle such as tippers and 4x4s. When I was looking at trucks some with lower miles were very badly maintained. I went for one that had 80,000 but was in kept in good order in the end. I would have prefered lower mileage but it's not always about the miles. Do what your doing and look at the body and service history etc I looked at a few trucks and went for an iveco, it's been a good truck for me it was the best one I could find at the time with my budget which is what it probably comes down to (Iveco or ortherwise)
  21. Not had a problem with my one. I wouldn't let one post put you off considering it. I wouldn't say its a perfect chipper ( if such a thing exists) but it's been brilliant for my domestic business. Lots of good points to look at. Have a proper look at it maybe read the instruction manual online to see what kind of machine it is. Phone greenmech and talk through any questions. Probably a few older threads that might be good to look at also

    Tip sites

You could try st Margaret's I haven't been there for a long time but they did take green waste for £20 a load. Might be worth giving them a call if your stuck for somewhere. Just google it should come up.
  23. Hello big j Revival of an old thread I know! I was wondering how you got on with your birch and if any one made any use of it. I have a fairly large mature birch coming down soon and the butt looks perfect for a little Alaskan milling. But wasn't sure if it was really worth it. It's got an even clean stem up to about 10ft (branches In the pic are from the tree behind)
  24. Just make sure you hit a pigeon and don't take the neighbours window out! Then eat the pigeon. I agree with Steve it's a lovely hornbeam. Is suffering pigeon poop worse than looking at a pollard? If the pigeon poo bothered me that bad I would probably remove and replant something smaller pigeons wouldn't roost in. Also how thick are your arms?
  25. Looking good mate
