  1. Meteor is a good bet
  2. As said do you mean the Durorcut? If so, I've got it in stock. Send me a message and I'll give you a price. I will say it's not cheap
  3. Courant Kalimba, great for SRT or DRT. Brilliant with mechanical devices and standard hitches and low stretch with a rating of 1.8
  4. That's fair enough. I've not used a pair myself. Still got my good old Buckinghams that I can't fault. I've tried the Panther and Notch Gecko variants in short and medium gaff, which I find very comfortable. I've no need for new spikes now though, being retired from climbing like yourself 😉
  5. Or maybe I'm wrong looking at Steve's reply
  6. They do a short, euro and long gaff for Distel spikes. I don't know if the euro would fit as it's not classed as an option for those ones. I'm guessing they might be something in the middle
  7. It's just what Stihl recommend. The 3652 (RM) variant or the Hexa will work quite happily
  8. If you're swapping boots have a look at the Crispi Forst. Very lightweight and comfortable. I've got both now and Crispi's feel half the weight. Felt like slippers in comparison and they weren't overly stiff like the Haix
  9. How many Mk3 t540 has he sold to be making that decision?
  10. Morning. Back to work today. Cloudy, but dry here
  11. Morning all. Day off today. Trying to entertain a 3 year old at the moment
  12. Give Outwear a call up in Scotland, are the uk importers for Protos. They should be able to help. Drew and Andrew are very good to speak to. Phone 01576 490 100
  13. Pfanner's are actually more expensive than the Betheflex pro when you include the discount you can get on arbortec stuff, although I do have Pfanner arborist myself
  14. Evening or morning? Off to bed now. Busy day in the shop. Full of domestic users that can't start their saws after 6 months down time, and wanting to clear the 5 inch branch that fell off in yesterday's wind. Absolutely no pro customers as they were probably busy clearing the big stuff
  15. Stihl bio isn't the best for oiling. I see quite a few saws coming in that use it, and the chains are gummed up and really tight that you can't move it by hand or hanging of the bar. I've seen saws run with standard veg cooking oil that are in a better state.
  16. Run the rope through your hands from the good end to bad, trying to stretch out the inner core and the outer cover. Tape up half meter back from cut, then cut with a hot knife or scissors, and use a small blowtorch to seal.
  17. We use a belt sander at work. The boss has always done it this way and has been repairing saws for 60 years. I always did with a flat when I was on the opposite side of the counter. I know @pleasant pain with mower blades .
  18. Have you given the zigzag a good clean first of all? As that can make a world of difference. Had a few customers with the same complaint and it sorted the problem. It may also be worn being that age, depending on use. Courant Kalimba at 11.9mm and Cousin Black Widow at 12.2mm are great ropes to use. I have both and can't fault them
  19. I'm a bit late but, I don't care. Temperature dropping off here. Half cloud cover, so might be a nice day here tomorrow. Will report back at some point
  20. I'm thinking Steve must dead, not like him not to reply 🤔
  21. How did you get on with it?
  22. I'm here, after the long drive from Poole to East Lancashire. It a hell of alot longer due to the 3 year old throwing up and needing toilet breaks. Back home ready and can't be arsed for work tomorrow 😴
  23. Courant Kalimba. Just order it with two splices instead of the one. It's a brilliant rope. 11.9 mm 24 strand, far less stretch than Tachyon. I use it on the Zig Zag all the time
  24. Morning all. Down in Poole this weekend. It's a lovely sunny morning here. Far better better than back home where it's been flooding
  25. I will say watch the clutch on the 500i. The main reason that they come into the shop. Had quite a few destroy the crank case when the clutch nye on exploded.
