  1. The protecter forest I have are very comfy, but heavy in the grand scheme. I've tried the protector timber, and they are light in comparison. The best boots at the moment seam to be the Crispi forst. Very light and robust, unless you work on the rails. Although I don't know of any boot that lasts long on ballast
  2. These seam pretty popular https://carrs-billington-safety.com/haix-protector-timber-boot I have these took about a week to break in https://carrs-billington-safety.com/protector-forest-2-1-gtx

    Hexa chain

Great chain. Well worth it IMHO. Yes the files cost more, but you can get more than one chain out of a file maybe even two if your not heavy handed. They had a dodgy batch with the first set of files as they hadn't been hardened properly. They seem better now. As for sharpening they say do it 90 degrees to the bar I find angle of 10 degrees makes it cut better, but that might just be me
  4. Hawthorn and blackthorn for me. It burns very hot as said. I've broken a couple of grids burning the stuff.
  5. I didn't get anything in the end. I'm not that bothered really, just put some daft bids in on the of chance.
  6. This is a sale of stock from F R Jones. I've got a couple of bids in for the reels of rope. Might aswell have a punt 👍
  7. Where about in North Wales. I know someone in Crewe who uses folk from over the border
  8. I started out 23 years ago. I've worked with quite a few with their aerial rescue and apparently being able to climb. Unfortunately it's not been the case. I've got epilepsy, and this has reminded me of having to be rescued and I believe it took 30 minutes. I'd totally forgotten about it to be honest as when I wake up from a fit, I'm usually confused and very angry not able to function properly. Luckily I wasn't using the saw at the time. I think with regular training and a pre installed access line this sort of stuff would be alot quicker.
  9. Brilliant news. Must of been a horrible thing to go through, I can't imagine doing the same. Hope it's a weight off your shoulders. The lad's looking happy 👍
  10. I'd just like to give Mike Cuerwen and Josephine Hedger a big congratulations, representing UK & Ireland at the ETCC this weekend. Getting 2nd & 3rd in their respective categories.

  11. The husky long reach would be the way to go if he wants a telescopic one (although I do have the Stihl equivalent with no complaints) the gear seems to be more robust. If it's just a standard long arm, have a look at the HLA 135. The motor is at the back, has an actual drive shaft rather than a cable, and uses the same cutting head as petrol machines.
  12. They've gone back to having grease points on the new incarnations. As for local authorities having problems not being able to grease the heads, I haven't seen that it makes any difference. Most of the operatives probably wouldn't know what grease was, even if you smeared them in it.
  13. There has been a few jobs advertised recently in Ozz, NZ, and Canada on here. I think they've said they will help with a visa etc. Get it done now before you get landed with kids and an overbearing other half. I stayed for a woman after being offered a job down under and I regret it. The only thing I'm left with now is an overbearing ex and my little lass. Which was the best thing to come out of it.

    Coms

The Stihl Pro Com fits Petzl helmet which has the Husqvarna fitment. You then need a 3M visor holder and a Stihl visor. Pretty sure they would fit any Husqvarna lid with this set up
  15. I've fixed a portawrap to the tree with ratchet straps before now, I think they were 10 ton if I recall. Worked quite similar to a bollard just not quite as smooth. Did the job though
  16. Did they not give you the batch/serial number from the reel it came from? If so, that should be enough for loler purposes paired with date of first use
  17. I was at a climbing comp last weekend with him. As I've said, sound bloke passionate and knows his stuff
  18. I know Dan is also an NPTC Trainer assessor so would be able to do courses for that I would think
  19. If you can wait Notch are bringing out a CE marked Glide. Had a feel of the US version on Saturday. Seems to be very smooth, easy to use and compatible with steel core lines.

    Step ladders

I've got 8ft Hendon ladders. Absolutely spot on, my only complaint is I wish I got the 10ft ones
  21. They are indeed. They look like Tachyon to me, I'll be happy to be corrected though.
  22. This is what I've got from your s/n.
  23. Thought I'd get back into some climbing after 3 and a half years out of the saddle, looked at my kit to find it looking rather sad, the harness more than anything. ( I can't believe I climbed with!) So I got this the Husqvarna/Teufelberger Treemotion Pro. Not had the chance to get out in it yet as I bust a rib a couple of weeks back and twinged it today starting a stubborn 088. I will give feedback as when I get chance 👍
  24. If the slings are a bit loose I've used a metal figure 8 to take the slack. It can help having more than 1 in different sizes though
  25. I have to say that conversation comes up daily with quite a lot of our customers. Some of which you know they should be vat registered. It can get rather annoying as they try the same each time they come in, thinking we'll eventually give in
