  1. All sounds very similar to his arguments about the ISC snap hook. He'll be telling us they need to recalled next.
  2. Lego for me, looking forward to starting it
  3. We get quite a few of these in our shop, always willing to repair them. A lot of folk come in wanting to replace them with something new. We tell them not to bother and and sort the 038. Great saws.
  4. Just got a Hansa C7 in at work. Seems to be a well built machine for the money
  5. I can see what Rob is doing here, it make life easier selling bars and chains. Unfortunately there's still folk who ask for 16" bar or chain and haven't a clue what saw it is. I'd like to say it's the domestic users, but unfortunately it's not.
  6. The Marlow stuff is great. As far as I'm aware they've stopped making it, or at least not the 20mm anyway
  7. There was me thinking we should be checking kit before a climb? Wouldn't surprise me if there was something amiss before the climb. He even admitted not doing a check on it prior to climbing
  8. I turn the bar after three filings. It might be over the top, but it keeps on top of wear. Only takes a minute so no hardship
  9. The original Airstreams were brilliant, couldn't complain. Since then they changed the sole to a much softer compound. I don't think their even vibram soles anymore. As for warranty I think it's only about 3 months with boots
  10. Take it to your local dealer. Hopefully it will of be been registered for warranty (you'll be surprised how many things aren't) take your receipt, hopefully it has the serial no. on it. That makes life far easier when it comes to claiming for warranty. If they've come out of their dealership hopefully they did everything properly towards the end. We've been able to register machines etc after the sale from other dealers, but it can be a long process without serial numbers on the receipt

    Stihl GTA 26

What's the feedback on oiling? Must be annoying having having to manually feed it
  12. I'll be honest I don't know. We haven't had any new one's delivered yet. Only found out this week there was the upgrade. Their's a few lads that have had numerous new pumps and it's been on warranty even after it's ended. They are good with warranty IMO. From my experience of using a top handle saw in the tree, I'd get the Husqvarna T540iXP for bigger stuff or the Echo 2500 if for smaller. Having used the 535 and the 2500 the Echo was better for me.
  13. No sign of running dry just a bad design. They wouldn't of made a upgrade kit if not. They only like thinner chain chain oil like synth +, even then they still break. The pumps on Husqvarna is far stronger and can handle a good thick oil
  14. The oil pumps on the 161T are made of cheese it seems. Get quite a few in for repairs. They've brought a upgrade kit out for the early ones so hopefully the new ones will have a better pump as standard
  15. Glad it's sorted. Hopefully we'll be getting some aswell
  16. I was looking into this a couple of years back. I'm sure Myerscough did one at the time, it seemed to dissappear when covid hit and not return
  17. Glad they swapped it as they should of done. Shame a proper pdi wasn't done in the first place
  18. Was the box sealed? Was there any fuel or oil in it? If not they've not bothered to look at it. I wouldn't dream of sending a saw out unchecked. I might have a different opinion though after as I used to the one buying
  19. So do stihl recommend that dealers fuel and oil up each saw and run test it? Stihl say to check every machine is in a safe and running order. In this case the saw was being collected, so I would of been expecting to a saw fully assembled, fueled and oiled.
  20. I'm guessing they didn't pdi then! Every saw that goes out should be checked over for any running issues, if it's oiling, damage etc. I'd be checking if they actually register the warranty if simple checks can't be done. You'll be surprised how many machines don't get registered
  21. The E25 means it's safe to use it up to 25% ethanol as their M-tronic machines can. As far as I'm aware the stabiliser is to slow down the rate of deterioration of the fuel and parts, but Stihl don't recommend fuel older than 30 days
  22. Used them for at least six years before I stopped two years back. Never had a problem. Bolts supplied aswell which weren't a problem either.
  23. IMHO I'd use the super oil. It leaves a lower ash residue on the piston which can't be bad, and it's only a couple of quid more when you buy a litre. You could go for the ultra full synthetic, but it's expensive. It also has a fuel stabiliser in and gives even less ash content
  24. Can't say that I did. This works for me anyway. I've probably got 7 different pages that I can scroll through and open, then close it down and it's all there for the next time. Also useful when I'm half way through a thread
  25. I stop using the app ages ago and started with the mobile version, just keep a page open in your Web browser and it opens up to where you last left it. If it's on the unread posts page it automatically refreshes and gives you new posts and notifications
