  1. Haha thanks Chris. Had to rod through to our septic a couple of weeks back so feel for you.
  2. Not that it would have made any difference as I wrote the measurements down wrong It's the top for the dresser I posted some months back. Spent most of the day making up a new side so now I am nearly back to where I was before I got out of bed. If you're looking on a small screen it's a line of biscuit holes not lining up with the shelf they are supposed to. Go on brighten my day up and share your not so bright moments
  3. I like the idea of having the legs detachable Ian. Might look neater if the bracket was let into the legs a bit but you probably can't see it from normal eye line.
  4. Great job Ian. I love dovetail keys used like that.
  5. Can't argue about a tilting spindle being handy and saving on tooling. Fortunate to have a Felder one but even that does not feel like a heavy machine when your spinning big heavy blocks on it. Tilting is not that new. Think there were quite a few good Italian machines with it some years back so you might find something second hand that's solid and tilts for sensible money.
  6. I have a spindle and do exactly as you suggest.
  7. There are a couple of Sedwik machines on ebay ATM both with power feeds. Not used one but most of their kit is simple but solid also made in the UK. I think the greatest improvements in safety are down to the tooling and less so the actual machine. Spindle Moulder: Woodworking | eBay
  8. It's like using a router cutter with bearing guide but on a larger scale. The difference is the radius of the ring guide is larger than the cutter. Used in conjunction with a template that runs against the ring. You set it up that only one point does the cutter line up with the ring so you can take progressively take more and more off without going to the final point first time. Hope that makes sense Explains better [ame] [/ame] Interestingly that ring fence looks like it's the same diameter as the cutter so there may be various sorts.
  9. The winner of most random post on Arbtalk
  10. Not very PC and I love it.
  11. That's a heck of lot of skittles mate. Hats off to you for persistence there Steve. Beech I presume?
  12. No doubt he will Jon. Used to love Top Gear back in the day and Clarkson can be quite entertaining. He did some random program years back where he would appear to take the pee out of a nation for half the program and then tell you how great the country was in the second half. Thought it was pretty good but vanished after one series so what do I know about TV
  13. Looks like he has been Video: Jeremy Clarkson says he's been sacked from BBC Top Gear - Telegraph Not bothered myself as the current Top Gear has run it's course and overstayed it's welcome in this house.
  14. [ame] [/ame] Sorry if posted before
  15. Looks like a serious box of toys there Dan
  16. Pretty sure Napalm death did a song that makes that look drawn out Not sure it would class as moving though
  17. Another one that always gives me goose pumps [ame] [/ame]
  18. Where's the like button? Good one Paul
  19. Might worth giving this chap a call National Directory of Skills & Services Shipshape
  20. Got to be this for me. [ame] [/ame]
  21. Think you made the right choice with the polyurethane as I have used the acrylic varnish and it leaves a rather pale look on end grain and not the depth of colour you have achieved. A picture of our kitchen cupboard. The carcase is finished with polyurethane and the shelves with the acrylic.
  22. That's lovely Andy Getting that good a finish on end grain ply can be tricky. What did you use?
  23. Anyone trying this yet? Our chip is still rotting in a heap at present.
  24. Sorry just noticed that it was engineered oak so not comparable.
