  1. Not very PC and I love it.
  2. That's a heck of lot of skittles mate. Hats off to you for persistence there Steve. Beech I presume?
  3. No doubt he will Jon. Used to love Top Gear back in the day and Clarkson can be quite entertaining. He did some random program years back where he would appear to take the pee out of a nation for half the program and then tell you how great the country was in the second half. Thought it was pretty good but vanished after one series so what do I know about TV
  4. Looks like he has been Video: Jeremy Clarkson says he's been sacked from BBC Top Gear - Telegraph Not bothered myself as the current Top Gear has run it's course and overstayed it's welcome in this house.
  5. [ame] [/ame] Sorry if posted before
  6. Looks like a serious box of toys there Dan
  7. Pretty sure Napalm death did a song that makes that look drawn out Not sure it would class as moving though
  8. Another one that always gives me goose pumps [ame] [/ame]
  9. Where's the like button? Good one Paul
  10. Might worth giving this chap a call National Directory of Skills & Services Shipshape
  11. Got to be this for me. [ame] [/ame]
  12. Think you made the right choice with the polyurethane as I have used the acrylic varnish and it leaves a rather pale look on end grain and not the depth of colour you have achieved. A picture of our kitchen cupboard. The carcase is finished with polyurethane and the shelves with the acrylic.
  13. That's lovely Andy Getting that good a finish on end grain ply can be tricky. What did you use?
  14. Anyone trying this yet? Our chip is still rotting in a heap at present.
  15. Sorry just noticed that it was engineered oak so not comparable.
  16. Way out my depth here but again thought chestnut was very stable when dry.
  17. Thought that could work if the concrete had a DPM and the boards are bonded to the floor. Not something I have tried just read about it.
  18. At that size it must be an ostrich egg. Probably got chucked out of a car window.
  19. Ouch! Hope it heals quickly for you
  20. It always seems like that and often does not seem to correlate to the weather. Had the quiet week still waiting for it togo mad Generally slowing down now but a few dribs and drabs going out.
  21. Yep still selling your load of chestnut. It's beech I am getting is it? No one tells me anything Love beech so suits me fine.
  22. Lovely classic work. Perfectly fitted doors the signe of a top craftsman.
  23. Not doubting that it varies Mike. My douglas sample is distinctly heavier than average so no two trees are the same. Got one customer who loves it but not let them have the good stuff yet On the other hand my best customer who has £1500 worth a year asked me never to bring any of that "yellow stuff again". Only put 1/2 cube in a 2 cube load but he really noticed the difference.
  24. Sorry for the previous derail skidzy I don't know what I was on about last night doubting the species. The load I had was definitely sweet chestnut. I cut off an air dried sample and it's 580 kg m3. This fits with this guide Sweet Chestnut - Associated Timber Services Limited that's lighter than some room dried (10%) douglas fir which comes in at 612kgm3. With most wood being about the same calorific value per kg it's safe to say sweet chestnut is nothing special. There is a good reason it can be bought for £10-£15 less per tonne than typical hardwoods for burning. Lovely to process Slow to dry Not the same caliber as ash, beech and oak
  25. Hope you're wrong because I have done a fair bit of fencing with it
