  1. Thanks for your honesty. Was not too bothered before when I first started this thread and realised how bad it was for others so just been taking the pills when it flares up. Now it's pills all the time and still not controlling it so my look into the Op. Hope you find a way of getting the surgery
  2. When making bowls I glue a round base plate of 18mm MDF to the bottom and then screw the faceplate to this. Make sure both surfaces are completely flat and grease free for a good glue joint. When done just cut of MDF with a saw close to the base and finish off with a plane.
  3. Great that's very helpful and backed up quite a lot of what I thought. Doing most of what suggest except the wheat which I only recently discovered could be an issue. Basically a paleo diet fits the bill. To date the Doc has told me none of this and it's just been advice from fellow sufferers like yourself that have been most helpful. Can I ask what was about you lifestyle that made the consultant knock you back? Job, diet or other?
  4. Looks like a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for sharing
  5. Found an interesting site for real world MPG Here is the Ranger for the OP Ford Ranger Mileage | Fuelly
  6. How on earth is that allowed? I thought modern EU regulation was pushing to make all energy consuming items more efficient but if that is right it makes a mockery of the figures.
  7. Any diet advice for lessening the effect of a hiatus hernia? It's been a lot worse lately and work is proving difficult so looking for natural ways to improve things.
  8. No but you don't expect manufacturers to blatantly lie about the combined mpg figures. Before doing logs I was driving old diesel estate cars from Ford, Citroen and Peugeot. With all of them if you drove carefully the book figures could be achieved or exceeded. I partially went for the the Dmax due to the supposed good fuel economy compared with other trucks but it looks like the numbers were made up in cloud cuckoo land:thumbdown:
  9. Was going to ask the same question. I only go on actual calculated figures don't trust the onboard gizmos.
  10. Dmax is I think the Rodeo's replacement. Regardless of what the official combined book figures say (37 mpg) we are returning similar figures to your Ranger. Took the processor up the line a few weeks back and returned 18mpg doing 55-60 mph on main roads. Does 24-25 mpg with mixed towing and log deliveries on short trips around our Devon lanes. Only got 30 mpg out of it once and that was going up to the APF pretty much unladen. BFG ATs and a canopy probably don't help ours.
  11. Bandsaw if you want versatility and good depth of cut. I am fortunate enough to have both a circular saw and band saw and the bandsaw is the go to machine. Band saws can be picked up cheap and with a bit of fettling made to do precise work. Bought an old Wadkin for £200 pounds a few years back and it would be worth that weighed in for scrap.
  12. Think we are in and ELS scheme which requires pretty much complete copiceing. Anyone any experience on how strict they are on leaving a few extra standards?
  13. Surpised by that Jon. I have a few grizles about ours but lack of guts is not one of them.
  14. That's looks amazing but might be a bit much if you had to live with it.
  15. Think he may be cutting it up for himself.
  16. Haha nice one Graham. For those who don't speak dyslexic that's suposed to say GRANT farming.
  17. I can't argue with word of that as I know you are right but I like the whole process from tree to log. I try to sell local wood to local people. I am not in it for the money just want to be able to get by in life. There is wood available through a major supplier but my last dealings with them was not a good experience.
  18. We are fixing up a beech hedge on the farm courtesy of a grant. Only allowed to leave 2 trees per 100m or similar. Seems a right shame to have to take so many out. Going to leave a few extras and we will see what they say. Most of the time they never come to inspect this stuff anyway so may get away with it but if not will have to fell the rest I have know idea what the grant is as the mrs woodworks takes care of paperwork. Due to grunt farming there only two farms in our parish left with decent amounts of trees on the hedges and we are one of them.
  19. This for the big stuff and the rest through the processor. Hydraulic log splitters CV 18 K - Krpan
  20. Made my offer but it's been declined.
  21. I would if I could sell the stuff. Not ONCE this season as anyone rung up to order softwood but I have managed to talk a handful of folk into buying it. Still got most of it left though
  22. Thanks Rob As you say wood is proving hard to come by and logs seller with no logs just won't work. I can sit on a high horse and say I won't do it for less than X or just get on with it and get some free wood close to home.
  23. Yes I know him well. Frankly I don't see the problem. These trees are in a private field not a school playground and they are completely stable in the current position. He was only asked to fell so he did. What risks others take from here on is their choice.
  24. Haha I am only a second rate village idiot while you are a pro.
