  1. Can't see me having much joy asking the driver to sort as they unload.
  2. Trying to be a bit more organised and sorting my timber to the processor. ATM it's forks on the compact tractor to load the log deck where any oversized stuff gets ringed up and moved out the way. Would be really nice to be able to pic through the stack for size and species but a nightmare job with just the forks. Would love a small forwarding crane but all I have read says they are pretty much useless on the 3 point linkage so needs a trailer so pricy. Are there any alternative/cheap ways that I have missed?
  3. A and B
  4. This bad boy [ame] [/ame] Suspect it might be a bit pricy. A good hand saw with some accurate marking out might be more suitable. Would be easy enough to build a jig to use as a guide.
  5. Show me a road-tow circular saw model that cuts 36+ cm diameter wood and I'm all ears
  6. Haha knew that would get a rise.
  7. Yes they are a big concern. Think we make better clotted cream this side of the Tamar Langage Farm | Online Shop
  8. Wondering if I could adapt it to use bio chain oil as the oil feed appears to be just a pipe to the tank and the pump is on the cut mechanism. Surprised you think the lubrication qualities are bad though. I thought mine was doing pretty well. Running two bars from new and both are fine. Done 5-6 hundred tons with it so far but not got any comparison with any other machines. As you say it's great with bendy stuff. Just spent the weekend putting the most gnarly hedgerow oak through it not fast but still effective.
  9. Anyone think they are necessary? Not so much for dust as a nice sharp chain on green wood only makes chips but for the oil that lubes the chain. Working in the sun yesterday and you could see this oil cloud coming off the chain and I must be inhaling some of it With the Farmi it uses the hydraulic oil for the chain lube so does anyone know how harmful this could be?
  10. Unless it's knackered I would bite his arm off at £1500! Been on the look out for something small and cheap for a while and not seen anything in that price range.
  11. Not down here Paul. Looked nice but biting wind and frost remained in the shade all day. Still bits of snow on the ground here and plenty on the moors. Does look like the chilly weather is coming to an end but still dry all week
  12. Beautiful down here again but the north of the moors is still covered in snow.
  13. Interesting that it is the same picture as my failed link up the page but different supplier. Hopfully link will work this time 40' Kiln Container - Diesel Heating | Scott+Sargeant Woodworking Machinery
  14. Thanks chaps farmerjohn The glue used is West System Epoxy with appropriate additives. Hope it's stable for a long time. Lloyds approved for boat building so fairly serious glue. Used it for various odd jobs over the years and never had a failure to date. And yes the steel gets a coarse sanding after the glue is applied. Stompy Got paid for my hours with no pre arranged price. Even charged for design time which is probably a first. Ideal customers being local, loaded and know what they want.
  15. This morning Jon Think most of it fell end of last week but we were working up the line and missed it. Been very cold here day and night so most of the snow is still left on the moors.
  16. All a bit of a cheat realy Should have been straight forward only the welding was not very accurate so had to make some adjustments with wooden packers. These are bonded to the steel with resin and then wood glue between the packers and the legs.
  17. Finished a dining table just before Christmas but no pictures until today. Pretty much the customers design in Oak.
  18. Loving this cold weather Jon:thumbup: Got loads done with firm ground plus log sales booming. Took the morning off so went up onto Dartmoor for a bit of a walk.
  19. Haha. Ye sorry it came out a bit small sort of AA size. Will try and find a larger version DD if possible This any better?
  20. Orientation is not as critical as many think. This little chart helps show possible production. Also East and West system may produce less but it's more likely to be when you are home to use it.
  21. Saw a report on some BP PV panels out in the North sea that were 20 years old. Not only working fine but had only lost a fraction of their original efficacy.
  22. Sorry forgot about this thread Mine is a homemade affair coverd in this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/58378-thinking-having-crack-making-charcoal.html Will look into potato sacks. Thanks for the suggested suppliers
  23. Tried quite a few brands over the years. Like the CMT stuff and can recomend Wealdon for unusual stuff but not quite as goot TCT as some but great prices. Oldham cutters ar nice as well. Can get these from Tilgear.
  24. Or this beast from Riko
