  1. Ravers dancing to the Benny Hill theme [ame] [/ame]
  2. No mate I love Devon. Yes sure the wages are poor so stuff like this will be done for free but there are so many great things about this county and it's people. Call me a village idiot if you like but I am going to offer to clear it for free and suspect he will get a better offer.
  3. Just gone down the Dmax rout after a Defender and got to admit the Defender was the better towing machine. Didn't notice the suspension as much as the ridiculous high gearing on the Dmax. 1st is is too high and you don't need 6th unless your over the speed limit
  4. Can't help with the question but are you sure it's oak as it looks a lot like elm in the pictures. Great looking boards either way
  5. What? You got job for me?
  6. Thanks Chris. I would leave to my mate. He was the feller with the winch and a JCB so would leave it up to him which way to do it.
  7. Think he is happy to have burn up in the field which simplifies that bit.
  8. Because the guy who felled has no interest in the wood and was only asked to fell due to him having a gert big winch. If I ask £550 I will not get £400 worth of wood. I am certain others around here will do the job for free. Think if I asked £550 they would piss themselves laughing.
  9. Message getting through loud and clear chaps Not dealt with such large awkward hardwood before so safety will be paramount. Plan of attack was clear what is safe and not under much load and get mate in with JCB to flip them onto their trunks. Sounds like I should not offer anything just clear for free but if ballibeg is right that's 8 tonne of wood that would cost me £400 to buy in. If it takes me 3 days to do it's still worth the hassle.
  10. Can't say I am a fan of the Logrite one as the tip does not grip well in the wood if you are looking to drag heavy lumps about. Think it's designed for picking up logs much how they show in their video.
  11. Yep I know it's not the most profitable way to get hold of wood but struggling to buy any in at the moment and at least it would be nice local timber not hauled in from who knows were. If I could get some handle on how much timber is there I can work out what I could could offer or not as the case maybe.
  12. A neighbour has had a couple of lovely oaks felled and wants to know how much I would pay for them but I am not sure how to go about estimating the volume of the wood in each tree. Approximate sizes are as follows 1. 85cm diameter at the base 18m high 15m spread 2. 80cm diameter at the base 14m high 14 spread I am hoping there is some formula for estimating the volume of wood. A couple of pictures. Frankly I think it's a dam shame they were felled but too late now
  13. So private boat owners now pay duty? Good thing too IMO. Few years back we were waiting to fill up dads boat (25 litres) There was one of these Home - Princess Motor Yacht Sales filling up. The pump read 9000 litres! Think that was all duty free cherry.
  14. A few wintery showers with a dusting of snow on the tops from time to time but the long term forecast is dry for a week
  15. Was that necessary Someone posts pictures of some beautifully crafted bowls and the first thing you come out with is negative. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but manners are the preserve of everyone. Great work Mr TWig
  16. I use the Palm gloves for when it's not too cold and Thermogrip for when it is. Gloves | Toolstation
  17. There are replacement cutters on Alibaba for way less than that. Tried posting a link but it wont work.
  18. Machine is spec'd for 36cm but it does need to be gun barrel straight for that. The splitter can take larger diameter and can be used while standing by it. The splitter alone is very productive. [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame]
  19. Yep Give me a call 01822 852933 Beau
  20. Thanks all Chains orderd
  21. Pretty sure I have a Stihl chain on ATM. It's a 346XP with a Sugi bar. I Know what I want I just can't get the blasted online thingy to display it. To make it worse I did a google search on that sized chain and the same shop pops up showing that width chain but won't let me select a length.
  22. Trying to order some Sthil chain for my 346 but the shops online guide only shows me Oregon chain for the husky. My saw has a 15" bar with a 0.325 x 0.58 chain so what Stihl would use that chain? I tried a load of different models but most used the next width up.
  23. That WAS a full chisel Nick. Had a go at sorting it this morning but don't think it will ever be the same again. Welcome to Arbtalk mate
  24. You're probably right. Just hoping I might get away with one.
  25. Needing some new chains for the 25" 460 and deliberating which chains to get. Run full chisel almost all the time but got a load of largish beeches to get down on the hedge and need to cut the stumps low. Often have dirt in these stumps but realise the full chisel will be quicker for ringing up. No problems sharpening either type.
