Got to say what a great way to sell kit. Paid just a tenner to advertise a firewood processor on Sunday night. Not yet put pictures up and now Tuesday morning it's gone and paid for. No messing around with Ebay time wasters and their margins. Thanks Steve for great service

Thanks for the warning. I have got the machine and tows surprisingly well and quite like the reassuring sight of a pin through the hitch as opposed to the hitch that looks the same when it's on or not quite on the ball. Yes a bit clunky on the lanes but easier to hitch up to on your own as can just drive into plate.

We have a Tanaka for work around the place. Sits on the shelf for months and just works when required.

You always get that at shows. Back in the real world have never had as good wood as some of the demos had, thats in 3 years of doing contract processing.

Recon your right there other than Farmi over Japa for me Powered infeed, bigger capacity, tilting conveyor plus can be self powered if you want to free up the tractor.

£100K! That's a lot of staff with a chainsaw and axe Was not seriously looking as we are way to small a set up but as you say would have to have huge turnover to justify that kind of money.

Because it's in their interest to know about their trucks if they want to sell them. If I went to a dealer who knew diddly squat about what they were selling would simply walk away.

Had a look around the APF and I am always struck buy massive processors making massive logs that I could not sell without re-splitting them down to a reasonable size. The worst was the Cordking making logs only suitable for biomass boilers. I guess people buy these machines so is there demand for massive logs? The nicest logs IMO came from machines were rings get fed in on a slow conveyor and an X shaped blade makes multiple cuts to get 4" square logs from larger sections like these Posch K-600 | Jas P Wilson Splitta 400 | Automatic High Production Logs and Kindling Machine Think Growi had one as well but did not get a close look.

Had a chat with the Oregon rep at the APF. From what I could make out the steel is much the same as before. The 15% improvement comes from it being sharper out the box due to improved grinding in the factory but after the first sharpen the quality of cut is down to the sharpeners skill with a file. Did I get the wrong end of the stick? He thought these were aimed at farmers and home owners who cant keep a full chisel spot on.

Ash bark beetle. I had a panic when I first found our logs with it but seems pretty harmless unless you are the bark of an ash tree.

Looking at some SH machinery and its fitted with a 40mm ring hitch. My truck currently has just a ball but can swap it with a hitch on an old Landrover that has a pin as well. Now did a bit of googling and came across this http://www.ntta.co.uk/downloads/SafeLegalTowingShort.pdf On page 28 it talks about various pin sizes 30mm 40mm 50mm but the only hitch I can get locally and the one on the Landy is 25mm. The pdf if seems to say this is complete no no but the trailer centre who sell hitches says it's completely normal to use a 40mm ring with a 25mm pin

Now that truck and trailer belongs on the overloaded thread. Must be at least 4 tonnes of logs on it without the trailer haha -
Not sure what the best service is for that sort of weight but would be happy to bottle it up if you want it. Got some 25L old oil drums that would be suitable.

Cant say I have any problems pushing my Alaskan with max cut of a 25" bar but mainly milled softwood to date. You could set up so working slightly downhill and let gravity help you.
