  1. Ordered one A decent file alone was at least a tenner so thought I might as well get the proper tool for the job.
  2. Thats a great service Forest Guess you have a lot of covered storage space or do leave the wood with the clients? Haha never noticed your forum name. Says it all
  3. Fantastic pile but do you get them undercover?
  4. [ame] [/ame] Just a quick clip of the use of the winch on our Krpan splitter. Not elegant but does the job
  5. Thanks. Yes I have been using large files but the engineering sort. Thought Jackalope mentioned carpenters files which are designed for wood Sounds like it might be worth getting the dedicated tool if the files last so well. And yes I do knock of the corners with a couple of strokes after squaring up the edge.
  6. Thanks Chippy. Are the Nicholson better than the Bahco?
  7. Looks like Rob D has just the thing but no sizes given Products for the category: Bar maintenance tools
  8. £8 per hour Ouch! Can see this being a fleeting idea haha.
  9. It's just an idea that's nagging at me. Having come from furniture making and moved to just hacking it up for logs would be nice to do something in between .
  10. Thing is most of this is on the processor and it seems much fussier than my saws. Guess its because it cant wander at all.
  11. Do you have some jig to make it cut at 90 degrees or just eyeball it?
  12. [ame] [/ame] Think one of these is coming up for sale but have no idea of value. Also is the market for mobile millers saturated?
  13. What would you recommend for a flat file for dressing of chainsaw bars? Some bars are pretty hard and my last file did not last long before it stopped cutting. Presume second cut would be OK. Also will get used for filing depth stops but don't find these as hard.
  14. By accident. Live on a farm and the Devon banks are seriously overgrown with trees. Started cutting them back and laying what I could. Logged up the wood for my folks who burn a bit but had an access. Friend asked if we had we any logs we would sell. They bought some came back and said they were the best (ie dry) they had ever had and could they have more and their friends wanted some as well. Built up from there concentrating on quality and not worrying about being expensive.

    X-Cut

Marketing shite for sure. It might be better than their bars though They are all at it though. Had a chat with the Oregon chap at the APF and from what I could make out their new super duper chain is pretty much the same as before but they sharpen it properly unlike before. Oh and its got some extra groove to help the oiling as though this was such a big issue before.
  16. That would be awesome haha Think I will try one these first Maypole Side Winder 15" Trailer Jack Leg Prop Stand | eBay and maybe get two mounting plates. Fit one beside the main leg and one the other side. Can use the leg to lift by the main leg and set the leg up as normal then remove pin and fit the leg the other side and leave it there. Thanks all for your help
  17. I should stress that it was only the road tow version I saw and a free standing one may not have some of the issues. Also when I said blade I should have said chain. Don't know how easy the splitting blade is to change. Come on Big J we need a proper review
  18. Thanks. Those are the ones that I tried to link to but for some reason it didn't work. I was wondering if I get the first one and take it apart could weld the guts up inside the existing leg. How you getting on with your new machine?

    Chains

If you keep your chain nice and sharp full chisel and if you are less bothered about speed and don't enjoy sharpening semi chisel. Basically full chisel cuts faster but needs more care.
  20. Big J on here has one I think. Looked at them myself as a road tow version but looked like it needed more development. Poor work position, chips got chucked out straight into the wheel. Changing the blade looked like a PITA. Need a log deck as it's very high. On the upside lots of power and heavy build for the money.
  21. Hi Al Not the best wood but bet it munched through it none the less but as you say maybe not the stuff to learn on haha. Really nice to meat you and hope the Farmi is as good for you as it has been for us Any problems give me shout Beau
  22. Nice work mr twig. Very true to your style except the treated 3x2 for the rafters but hay they do the job.
  23. Will check them out. Thanks
  24. Thanks Eddie It's an option but would rather have it self contained as I work close up to the machine and the less everything sticks out the better.
  25. Want some on my processor and it would be great if I could adapt the current legs to be jacking ie wind down. Thinking of getting something off the shelf like these http://www.trailertek.com/trailer-parts/jacks-and-prop-stands/props-and-jacksthen cannibalising it but thought I would seek advise first. These are the current legs on the processor.
