  1. Cant view the picture properly as not a member but are they on a bank? We have trouble with new trees on our Devon banks when young. Think it's simply they struggle for water until the are big enough to get their roots down to ground level then they are off.
  2. What are Kioti's like these days? Looked at them 10 years ago and they looked like good value but needed a bit more R&D IMO. Stupid things like the handbrake was basically under the seat and very difficult to use. We ended up with a geared Labourgini, Deutze, Same apparently all the same but would have liked the extra weight the Kioti offered.
  3. Came across this which reveals what each light is made of but nothing about the light source other than they are LEDs https://www.etsy.com/shop/SplitGrain?ref=seller_info&source=aw&awc=6220_1472829845_05635477d1fc13748fa99b1d3d58749b&utm_source=affiliate_window&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=us_location_buyer&utm_content=227305
  4. You probably know about this Steve but incase not Lesser Known Timber Species
  5. You don't get much sapwood on imported walnut. It comes square edged and most of the sap is removed at the mill. Generally speaking sap is not used in furniture as it's to soft to stand up to every day use admittedly the sap on American walnut is better than some species. There is a small amount of sap on the underside of our worktops as you can see in the picture but don't think there is any showing in the pictures you posted.
  6. Sorry what is like the sapwood? There is no sap in the picture I posted if that's what you meant.
  7. Think they had one at a show I went to. From memory it looked nicely made but not as industrial as an SCM machine but looking at weight specs would confirm or disprove that.
  8. Much as I don't like to disagree with Steve who is very knowledgable about woods I am pretty sure your tops are American walnut. The picture is our kitchen top made of American walnut. The other thing is there are lots of fantastic and diverse woods out there most things end up being made with the usual suspects. Am walnut is widely available and widely used due to it's beauty and ease to work with.
  9. More branches and lumps cut up last week. [ame] [/ame]
  10. This look similar?
  11. Could be American black walnut. It does go that colour if it gets some sunlight on it otherwise it tends to be a bit darker.
  12. Oh heck Didn't realise it was this bad. Think I might have to pay someone to sort things unless Wordpress is as easy as using a template like Yola.
  13. Thanks chaps for the encouragement and have not forgotten other means of getting work. Lots comes through recommends. Some testimonies would be a good idea. Have some on our Facebook page but Facebook has proved pretty useless for work. Not that you can see them but I have lots of keywords written in the background white on white as nephew said this helped. Whats a proper footer and not sure what google local listings are?
  14. Don't laugh too much Liz's Logs We pop up in local searches for logs but the processing seems way down the listings for Devon and Cornwall.
  15. Just had this come up on Facebook. Think it shows why the light in the first link is so good and this is what will happen if it's just slapped together. Cracked rings, uneven spacing and generally looks crap or am I being harsh?
  16. OK it does work but parts of our services used to come up in searches but now I can scrolled through pages of Google results and none of them are ours when a year ago we would show up near the top. I know diddly squat about websites but all has been good until now. How do these things work and how can I get us back up in searches?
  17. Pete any chance you can ask your brother about suitable light fittings. I presume LED is the way to go but still concerned about the risk of too much heat in a wooden mount. Also to project the light through the multiple holes what might be a good angle spot? Thanks
  18. Thanks Pete. Yes thats the sort of thing I was trying to work out. Hadn't thought of adding a reflector so thanks again.
  19. How would you go about it James?
  20. Really like these Designer Paul Foeckler Turns to Firewood to Create His Latest Lighting Collection - SolidSmack Wondering how to make one.
  21. Finally got around to doing something about these lights and got some like these Pair 12V LED Rear Tail Stop Light Indicator Lamp Truck Trailer Lorry Van Caravan | eBay I don't know if I have done something wrong wiring wise but the light output is pathetic. Resistors were mentioned in this thread and I have not yet added one but would they effect the light output or have I just bought some duff lights?
  22. The small Mowi cranes need very low flow rates. Our little compact runs this one with flow to spare Mowi - 650 Even the Mowi P400 crane with 6.2M reach only needs 25-30 litres per min.
  23. Yep more contract work. Was dead for months but now quite busy. The view is the north of Dartmoor near Sticklpath. How you getting on down in your woods?
