  1. Increase the biodiversity. Fell an area and replant with native broadleaf, create a couple of ponds, look at rides, glades and different levels of vegetation. Recommend a habitat survey, enhancement and ecological conservation methods. Wildlife walks, pond dipping for schools, volunteer days for locals....
  2. Best advise I think is to choose a subject as closely related as possible to the area of arb you want to specialize in afterwards. It will help if you tutor or if you know who might mark your dissertation has an interest in the subject. Pick something which is easily researchable. Get it looked at as oftern as possible by different lecturers! If I was going to do mine again it would be on the Asian Longhorn Beetle. Current ! Good luck Warren
  3. I've learnt from the past that its always best to be 100% certain and have it in writing before you touch a tree which is TPO'd or in a CA even if it is on its very last legs.
  4. If it's not completely dead or dangerous don't touch it until you've spoken to your to
  5. Second picture down on the left in your first post is something else.
  6. Could have been worse, he could have produced a gimp suit and said the same thing.
  7. My old man has had an 06 since new, got his moneys worth out the warranty and spent lots since.
  8. My old man has used his for the last 25 years and swears by it. I dont get on with it and prefer good old brute force!
  9. Very true, or if nobody ever fitted silly lift kits etc on 5% off road and 95% road landies I think they would have a far better reliability reputation.
  10. Nothing holds its value like a Defender. if you look after it.
  11. Hi Jon, done a bit of research and the following categories are excluded from the scope retread tyres professional off road tyres racing tyres studded tyres temporary use spare tyres tyres designed to be fitted on vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990 tyres whose speed rating is less than 80km/h 50mph tyres whose nominal rim diameter dose not exceed 254mm or 635mm Stick some go-faster stripes and a number on your land rover, that might be one way round it.
  12. Yes I have heard different things about this, size of tyre, agricultural use etc affects it, and as you said, remoulds. Have'nt BFG muds just changed regarding this. So what are the EU going to do about my next door neighbours son's saxo which makes far more noise than an off road tyre.
  13. My knees sound like a football rattle when standing up but I put that down to my strange enjoyment of running marathons, at 16 1/2 stone was gonna take its toll. But I usually have a groin strain that wont go away when I visit my fit chiropractor for some deep tissue massage!
  14. Having mentioned my hormonal husky in a recent thread......Female !!
  15. Strangely enough it played up about a month ago and then was fine with no tinkering. Started using the ms440 today and the husky wouldnt then even start. I hate jealousy in a woman!
  16. Well I've got a hormonal husky at the moment I think!
  17. Gargeners questiontime/embarrasing bodies !
  18. As above, wash and sweep it off !!
  19. Sounds like a slime mould to me. Generally not harmful to grass but can reduce light getting to the grass blades reducing growth. Try spraying with water and sweeping off with a broom
  20. Just thought I'd add this. Forestry Commission - Pests & Diseases - Oak Processionary Moth
  21. Main climber with only six months experience? I think thats pushing it, you'll end up rushing, doing a bad job, breaking something etc. Or worse still breaking yourself. Having said that, if you made them aware of your experience they should give you a bit of time to get up to speed
  22. Thats what I thought but you have to show that you can sharpen a chain so he'll just blunt most of the teeth with a flat file and one tooth more than the rest as ihe did with me. Practice keeping the bar level when felling and and go over and over the assessment criteria. And you wont get extra marks for speed! Best of luck !
