    Had a look at this oak today.The customer already told me that he had sent a sample of the bracket off to the RHS and they had informed him that it was Inonotus dryadeus. Firstly I noted the Merpilus present as well, but I really don't believe that the other brackets are dryadeus ?? W

    I never said anything was a bad idea. Purely trying to get a history of any construction around the tree. Dont you think that would be useful to know ?

    To me it looks like the levels around the tree have been raised, when was that paving done ?

    Judging by the host and the location on the tree I would say a desicated L. sulphurous. Chicken of the woods:thumbup1:
