  1. Thanks David, photos aren't great as taken with phone but the more I think about it bleeding canker might seem more lightly for the exudate. Are fruiting bodies from Armillaria normally produced later or may they be present in the early stages of infection? What was the course of action with tree above that lost a limb? W
  2. Spotted this girdled Chestnut yesterday. Crown has dieback and numerous large crown lift wounds from the past with Silverleaf from ground to wound 2m up. Black exudate and bark splitting, possible armillaria? Tree is situated in busy public park and have a feeling TO is monitoring.
  3. Agree, but you forgot the lunge!
  4. Blimey, I bet the climber who did the recent work took a big gulp when he saw that picture.
  5. Exactly what I was thinking, go with my guttation I mean gut instinct! Consulted with Keiser and Phillips and see I. resinosum also referred to as Benzoin bracket.
  6. Well I'm feeling confident Tony so I'll put a fiver on it and will pay up on Thursday If I'm wrong:001_tt2:
  7. Ahh, so that's where I left it.
  8. Been out in Mallorca and due to not being able to roast myself silly in the sun went on a fungi hunt. Came across a hotel grounds where I would say 90 out of a 100 or so trees(conifer due to fungi ident) had what I think is Ischnoderma benzoinum-Benzoin bracket. Trees are managed with heavy reductions and obviously have plenty of dysfunctional wood to feed the fungi as all seem to be in good health. Last 2 images of a nice old olive with plenty of character.
  9. That looks amazing, better go take a look as I'm only 6 miles away.
  10. That would make sense but never heard it used referring to a trees health before.
  11. Thanks Eggs, what comes around goes around and all that.
  12. Dam, should have used the sympathy vote to tug at peoples hearts. But you showed your generosity without. Cheers
  13. Recently asked if anyone had a defender centre seat for sale in arb truck section, and Treequip posted one to me. He didn't ask for any money for seat or for postage. So the Childrens Trust got a donation instead. It was so we could take my partners 5 yr old son out who's autistic and doesn't speak, but loves my defender. Fitted seat and took him out at the weekend, very happy little boy. So everyones a winner! The power of Arbtalk strikes again. Thanks again Andy Warren
  14. Haha, me to, for months till it clicked.
  15. Happy birthday Jon.Plenty of:eating: and:beer: and then:dancing: Warren
  16. Good for you. And ask away, people are all happy to give advise on here.
  17. Yes it was a silly question wasn't it. So trees are basically great big vibrators! But that all makes sense, especially the vibrations and the psychological benefits of plants, trees especially. My partners son is autistic and the change in him is huge when I drag them on a woodland walk. It calms him right down, and for hours afterwards.
  18. Looks nice, I'll see if I can get enough pennies together to have one by June 13th Ashtead Common ATF conference. :thumbup:You going?
