  1. Cheers mate, I'll try and get hold of a copy, what was it about ?
  2. Hi Justin I'm in T Wells so spitting distance from you. Will definately bear you in mind as I am about to increase the ammount of treework I do for domestic clients. You could try some of the larger tree companies round here like treework, Tamilek or even Bartlets who have an office near Sevenoaks. Dont offer to volunteer first though. Will be doing the diploma with Treelife but have just seen that Merrist Wood do it which would be easier. I presume your doing the foundation degree with the option for the full degree for a third year in a related subject ? Mendiplogs language? stay away from the cizzer ! W
  3. I had a feeling you may have read it Tony, I was actually doing some reading on phoenix regeneration and came across it, will look for similar articles as so much referencing to the usual suspects. Shigo, Mattheck, Rackham..... W
  4. Doing a bit of random sunday research and came across this, hav'nt read it all yet but looks very interesting. W 3 - ENVIRONMENTAL ARBORICULTURE TREE ECOLOGY.pdf
  5. Think I can still do flipps like that, then again, not so sure.
  6. Harsh but fair. I got the same type of sympathy jokes from the nurses when I crashed into a tree years ago and broke my sternum, and then told them I was a tree surgeon.
  7. But ouch! Hope it heals quick mate.
  8. I think thats a given but yes, great you got it back.
  9. One of my last assignments was a management plan for part of Bedgebury Pinetum and my dissertation was woodland habitat related so realised if I was being drawn to this area then that was where I wanted to find work for a large company with all the benefits of working for a large organisation. But its not that straight forward as I slowly found out with the ammount of applicants applying for jobs these days. I now manage a couple of woodlands with habitat management in mind and a bit of heathland restoration, as well as tree surgery myself. With my main passion being for trees I am doing a level 4 diploma in arboriculture in October. I also do a bit of volunteer work for the woodland trust and the local wildlife trust doing reptile surveys. I would recommend this for the experience on the cv and can really give you some good knowledge to back up assignments. You'll probably see that you find some subjects more interesting than others which could give you an idea of the sector in which you would like to work and then explore the avenues available to you. Best of luck with the course and I'll let you know if you can come and do a bit with me sometime. Warren:thumbup:
  10. By the way, where are you based?
  11. Welcome to the forum mate, I finished the Landscape management degree a couple of years ago and we had the countryside management lot join us for the final year. If your going to get your tickets go to Kingswood Training up the road from Hadlow. A far better outfit for that sort of thing. All the best with the course. W
  12. I dont think self employed gardeners charge less than £15. Surely your skills are worth more than someone who weeds and cuts grass. But having said that I would rather work for less than not work at all.
  13. Must go, I'm poaching this morning
