It also assists re-start time but TBH I dont often reboot my MacBook, I just shut the lid as it starts near instantly from sleep.</p> <p> </p> <p>Some things that may impact performance:</p> <p> </p> <p>Too many programs start on start-up</p> <p>large number of e-mails in mailbox, some people hoard them all!</p> <p>large number of browser add ons if you use Firefox</p> <p>lots of smart playlists in iTunes</p> <p>HDD nearly full, </p> <p> </p> <p>To improve speed:</p> <p>flushing caches with Onyx - about once a year <a href="http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx" rel="external nofollow">Download OnyX for Mac - Maintenance and optimization tool.
