  1. Good advice. IMO you need to go big or go home. You say you always sell out so put your price up a bit, buy the kit as you need it and invest in stock. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. He's talking rubbish. In the 10 years doing tree work I've never had any problems using different brands of oil in different saws. I don't even use husky or stihl stuff now, use another high grade oil at half the price! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. The first climbing saw I bought was a Echo. Complete waste of time and money. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. I in NZ so probably no use to you. Just our local oil supplier. Sell every type of oil you can imagine. Last lot cost $560 + GST (about £230 + VAT) for 210L drum. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. I'm fully qualified and all my staff are. I wouldn't employ anyone who wasn't. You can argue its only a bit of paper and it doesn't count for experience but that's rubbish. I've been driving since I was 6 but still needed to take a driving test.... Still needed the bit of paper. You can be the most experienced person in the world, but you all that means is you can be experienced in doing it wrong. Qualifications are the way forward IMO, Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. 210L every time. The saving is huge and less hassle. Normally lasts us around 6 months. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. At £40 a pop, how can you argue it's affordable compared to a £10 throw bag? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Love it.... Like a movie trailer!!! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Sound advice there..... Can't argue with that. It all depends on what your comfortable with. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Just climb them, from the pictures the lines look far enough away.
  11. Don't mess around.... Buy new from a reputable dealer. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. So just to be clear, you support people in the industry who are inexperienced, not insured or have the relevant qualifications? I wonder if plumbers, electricians or builders would have the same point of view? If the people in our industry cannot take it seriously why should anyone else? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. I would beg to differ, when I did my first private job i was experienced. I know what I was doing because I took the time to learn my trade working under the guidance of someone else. I'm sure other's will be the same. I "extrapolated" that I thought he wasn't insured from the information provided by the member in the original post. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking the member on here asking for advice. When someone asks such a simple question that was asked, maybe (as well as answering his question) additional advice would include, get some tickets, work for someone for a while, see how it's done. At least then he'll have a half descent chance of doing a job safely and proficiently. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. I guess it's good for the industry to have inexperienced, unqualified and uninsured people carrying out work. Work that may have gone to a company who provide training, have insurance and DO work by the book. I guess it's good for everyone in the industry. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Do you think if you need to ask questions like that you should be doing the job in the first place? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. How do you know it was towed on a highway? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. That needs to be topped! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Get up, have a bacon and egg sandwich and a coffee on the way to the job. Do your 10h work, stop off at the pub on the way home. Have your tea go to bed. Repeat 6.5 days a week, You'll be fine. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Harlem Shake Tree Brothers LTD ByTreeBrothersLtd Saw this on Facebook this morn. Not too impressed with the dancing but they have some very nice kit! Apologies if it's already been posted or the link doesn't work. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Throw it straight in the deep end! They are made to work the day you buy em. Bought a 201 a couple of weeks back, a 46 last week, running fine. I don't think I've even taken any of the 7-8 saws we've got back after their first 4 hours work. All run fine. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Nice boat!! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Makers mark... It's a good drop. Think it's around $80 a bottle. A bottle lasts 3 months! That's all the alcohol I buy, make the rest! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. I have a 22" bar on my 66. Use full chisel chain, starting to. It like the semi- chisel. When we use up the reel of semi chisel up I will be running all our ground saws on full chisel . It flys through timber! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Finally got round to updating ours, http://www.ecotreecare.co.nz. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
