You've got to wonder how much of that is scare tactics from the water companies. If people started saving there own water there profits would fall. They don't own the water that falls out of the sky so have to do something to stop people using it.

Out at 6.50 this morning, back having a coffee by 7.40. Less than half a mile from our house.

All our water comes from rain water collection, stored in a 25000L tank. Will be installing another one this winter. I don't see the issue with drinking rain water personally.

We're doing quite well out of firewood, doing 1-2000 cube a year investing in the gear is paying off

Yeah... Just getting going. Had 5 inches of snow- it's not even winter yet!

Did 35 cube on Tuesday and 25 cube yesterday.

I'm not putting anyone down- please don't take what I have to say personally. I'm just stating my opinion on a public forum to someone who asked for any input.

We finished a job for someone "just getting there foot in the door" and they couldn't finish the work and called us in. Needless to say it made them look like amateurs and any future work will come to us.

Why do I what? Quote for work I can't do? I don't and have never priced a job I can't do or don't have the means of doing.

As I said- just my humble opinion, nothing directed at you personally. I think most people, myself included barely have enough money. There are times when my staff take home more than I do but that's the responsibility of employing people. I don't go starting threads on a public forum about it. That's just the way it is. P.s it's a but hard to un- read something once it's been read

These threads annoy me- people always think there worth more than they are. I had one guy said he's leaving unless I can pay him what he's been offered elsewhere- ($2 more p/h) I said go for it- two weeks later he was asking for his job back. I pay my guys slightly less but in return they have job security, regular hours, get to order the gear they want, the best PPE there is and training to improve there skill set. Money isn't everything. This is just my opinion.

You shouldn't have to justify buying a piece of equipment you need- you either need one or you don't. As others have said- big wood= big saw. For what it's worth we run 22" bars on our 66 and 32" on the 88's for day to day use.

Honesty is the best policy! I always ask the client what they expect- if they want a pristine job with no sign we've been there it costs them more!
