  1. Simplest things first. Sounds like fuel shortage, enough to run at 1/2 throttle, but not enough for any more throttle, so then runnng weak. Check pickup filter, AND the internal carb gauze. Take it from there.
  2. First, Ebony dating Now, male parts hair removal, You do make some strange searches. Whats next wuss?
  3. Does not seem that light hearted when its multiple quotes and half a page long, though.
  4. This 'point scoring' is getting a little boring, methinks.
  5. The trouble is, that if the cutters are too small for a 3/16 file but take a 5/32, then the chain is most likely a 3/8 low profile and therefore a different pitch. If this is the case, it wont match your sprockets. Please dont use it again till you are sure you have the right chain, you may cause damage to the saw, or yourself.
  6. You are in for it then:biggrin: Move up to East Devon:thumbup1: famous last words????
  7. Very obvious difference this year TCD, so I,m hoping with you. Yesterday was'nt classed as a 'splash' by any chance.......?
  8. Interesting how threads develop. The OP merely wanted a saw techie in the north, and a debate started on the merits of dealerships v one man bands, good and bad dealers, etc. A few references to me have been made, mostly positive, thank you. In response to some of the comments Someone said something like " some dealers want to be here but dont want to pay. I hope that was not aimed at me, I am here to learn from some, and hopefully be able to help others. I have no interest in making sales to forum members unless I am able to supply something they are having trouble obtaining. Therefore with no commercial interest I do not want to be a sponsor. I do however enjoy the forum and will contribute to raffles etc in the future. There was a comment that I was the only dealer to give location. This is only because I feel it makes me 'real' I do not need to be anonymous. I have a great respect for Spud, and agree completely that there is an important place for guys like him. I know that many jobs are not cost effective at my hourly rates and that others can work cheaper. If these guys are good they have my support. I have established quite a good forum friendship with Spud. With the 'one man band v dealer' thing. I am also a 'one man band', well not strictly true, I am 'one man and his wife, band' Its just that I do it full time as a Ltd Company, with franchises. As to whether I am one of the good dealers, only my satisfied customers can answer that.
  9. This thread echos several postings I have seen on various threads lately which hint at a general mistrust of dealerships. As in all businesses, whether saw dealerships, tree surgeons, firewood merchants or even cake shops, there will be some good, some bad, and many in between. So it is unfair to brand us all with the same badge. The dealers on this site are in the minority, but we can show the nature of the business from our side. This is exactly what pleasant has done here, and done it very well ( with the exception of the misunderstood reference to spud!) I joined this forum to get a futher insight into the business of my type of customers, and have found it extremely informative. I hope you tree guys and gardeners can benefit equally from the insight into our business from threads such as this. Maybe we should start an 'ask the dealers' thread?
  10. I was googling Aspen, for info prior to taking it on to sell. Have learnt a lot, and hopefully helped a few along the way. Thanks Steve for a great Forum
  11. I have been a dealer for many years, albeit not a Stihl main dealer. I have never heard of a warranty waiver whilst in for repair, it has always been my understanding that warranty runs from the purchase date regardless. When I was selling ag machines I did come across some 'exceptional' warranty extensions on problem machines, but these were always on an individual basis. I have also never taken anywhere near 2 months to repair a product, warranty or not. In my book, warranty work takes priority over everthing else, and I keep downtime to the minimum, its only fair.
  12. He won't tell me either:thumbdown: One day maybe.....
  13. It will give a bit more space. Push the hose through from the carb side and pull from the back until it snaps into place in the backplate. Use some long, thin pliers to push it over the nipple if your fingers are too clumsy. Then ease the handle back over the boot, pulling the boot through with the slippery string which you have wrapped under the flange, so as not to damage the rubber. When its through gently unwrap the string. Reassemble Avs and carb etc. No kisses please:biggrin:
  14. Impulse hose part number 1115 141 8600. As spud says, easy enought to replace, but a little fiddly. Pulling the av,s may let the handle drop a little to increase space, but if you do that you will also have to push the manifold out. Put a loop of greased string around it to pull it back through
  15. There is a vent valve for the oil tank, but it is found in a drilling visible just in front of, and in line with, the front bar stud(bar removed). It keeps the internal pressure inside the tank equal to atmospheric pressure. It does not sound quite like your problem.
  16. Now that Jacko cake is brilliant!!.... just does'nt look appetising???
  17. Hi Rich. Little bent bit of metal with thread in one part of L for screw and lug for bar on other leg of L. the part no is 1124 640 1900 and the RRP is 5.13 plus vat.
  18. Ha ha, its days like this when I am glad I work indoors, Its chucking it down.
  19. I'll second that. Just dont bother.
  20. I was going to say what Spud said, but now I'm glad I did'nt!
  21. Just a thought. Is it actually leaking, or is it just draining down from accumulated sawdust under the clutch cover? In other words, does it still leak when its clean? Also, if it is oiling a little too much then there will be quite a drain from the bar groove. I have dozens of saws through, of all makes and models. Most leak. The wooden top of the storage bench will never rot! Edit, and in answer to your first question, just like others have said, a full tank will have to push some oil out if it expands when it heats up.
  22. Sorry, this reply is a bit late. But, NO, I would not. Taken in payment, full, or part, is the same as buying it. Everyone in business buys for one price and sells for another, therby making PROFIT, nothing to be ashamed of there. Taken in payment, PX, or bought for cash, its all a gamble. You dont know if you have put the right value on it until you've sold it, and made either profit or loss.
  23. Seriously? Would you?
  24. Maybe one of those chocolate stick things you have at christmas would be good. Not too flexible and easy to shear off. Recyclable and very tasty:thumbup:
