  1. Can you still turn the engine by pulling the chain round the bar with it in place but not the side cover clamped up ?
  2. Been off this week with my knee . Watched some of the matches . The Scotland lads got tonked buy the blacks ......

  5. All this is true Tim . Thats why people of your experience will know whats about right for what species of wood and what condition . You use all this knowledge to haggle the price surely ?
  6. I would go with this one . Not enough compression when it gets warm . Check piston through exhaust port if you haven't yet .
  7. I'm not reacting as you are probably right and to be honest I forgot what numbers/letters for chains mean about 100 years ago !

  9. If you haven't got a ported saw ( or a big motor ) then sometimes it will make it worse . You need torque to pull a high gear . Like trying to drive your truck up a steep hill in top ....

  15. Oh I don't mind . Not much in it really . The Stihl has been around longer and the Husky one is supposed to be a bit harder to work on ( though mine as not needed it ) . The Husky one is supposed to have a straighter blow in relation to the handle so as to minimise the twisting moment that is present but not a big deal really ....
  16. I have the Husky hand held one and the Stihl BG 85 . The Stihl sounds as though it blowing harder than the Husky and the Husky sounds like a bag of nails but just edges it on puff .

  18. They will until the rollers ware down then they will be OK for a chain at the end of its life but no good for a new one .
  19. I would have taken it back . There may be a whole batch of faulty bars sitting there ....
  20. I don't know if the oil hole would line up as never tried it but I do know that length for length a husky bar uses more driver links that the equivalent Stihl
