  1. You know when the washing machine starts a spin cycle , it gets to about half revs and is wobbling and banging about coz the drum is out of balance , then the revs increase and everything smooths out . I think its kinda like that with a well maintained ported saw . It does not have to work so hard to get to max revs ( not above spec as Spud has pointed out ) so seems smoother .
  2. My take is this . All people like Spud are doing is maximizing the design intent . If production tolerances and manufacturing costs were of no importance then I recon all saws would come out of the factory " ported " . They are not dangerous . They just work more efficiently .
  3. That's why you don't see them very often Andrew ! ?
  4. My 346 feels as though it has less vibes than a stock one . Have you used a ported saw ?
  5. I would say less vibes . Running faster, smoother , Out of that lumpy frequency range .
  6. And more efficient use of fuel , More productive , more reliable , cut faster so IMHO safer . ( Chasing that hinge etc etc )
  7. I was once accused of being a racist , on here , for calling a Chinese copy engine ( copy of a Honda GS engine ) A chinker engine . I did not even consider the use of the word ( if it even is a word ) when I posted it but some one took exception to my post . I am not racist by inclination but maybe I should examine how I communicate . At the time I was some what upset that a person would regard me in that way . I have friends , proper friends who are from China , Nigeria , Hungary and Poland and even people from my next village ! Some times things can get out of hand with no malice or intent .
  8. Didn't do her any harm as she has made it to 16 .....

  14. There are some tasty looking traffic cones about to be fair .
  15. I store mine with a tank full of Aspen but , if you don't use it normally you may have problems with the rubber components going brittle from the use of pump fuel . Not a problem if you use Aspen from the get go .
  16. Spencer tapes are all I have used . Better than most I recon but it is a consumable .
  17. I have nether Snap chat or Facebook , but I am an old git . I go on A/T every night . Don't always post , mostly read others . The Brexit debate has taken up a huge amount on here but that is perfectly understandable . I think that most of the questions come around and around over and over again . Asked by each new influx of newbies . I was one myself . What saw , what stove what mill what fire wood " What ! what aint any country I ever heard of . Do they speak English in what ? .....Sorry after a time you tend to not bother unless its something new and refreshing . Love the bear by the way .

    Overloaded

Get some of the pictures from India . They are masters of the overloaded . Trains are a good example . Sometimes you can't see the locomotive for people hanging off it !
  19. It is for sure the least labor intensive fire wood . Seasons quick , splits easy peasy and burns like Ash/Beech .
