  6. Sorry the pawl is part of the mechanism that activates the chain brake . It seems you may have inadvertently snapped the brake band on with it not fitted to the saw . This means that the brake band will have reduced in diameter ( in its clamping mode ) and therefor won't fit ( with clearance ) around the clutch drum . With it in this position it will will foul and cant the cover over causing interference . You need to de activate the brake ( pull the handle back towards you when its on the saw ) but if you cant get the mechanism to engage ( because of the situation ) then youi will have to do it with it not on the saw . This will entail holding the cover firmly , by clamping in a vice , ( wooden blocks either side would be a good idea ) and using something as described by Rich to activate the brake to expand the band thus enabling assembly . Phew ! make sense ?
  7. I seem to remember the only difference was that the 371 had a different ( more robust ) clutch design . Could be wrong !

    Exactly . I have some Canadian big Husqvarnas ,all got twin port mufflers so no EPA stuff . Once the stickers have rubbed off there is no difference . Parts are the same exept the high top filters and covers but its all gettable .
  10. If its snapped on , and not round the clutch drum , then when you do the bar nut up it will compress the band against the clutch drum and cant the cover out of line . I have had this situation once . I managed to get the cover on far enough to en gauge the brake pawl to enable me to snap it off . the the cover went on ok . You might need to clamp the cover and use a tool of some kind to try and snap it off/open .

  13. I can see from the markings on the bar that it should be " pixal " chain , as Husqvarna call it . I think the drivers are 1,3mm wide . Measure the driver tangs on the chain with a vernier caliper or better still a micrometer . If they are any wider you will have problems . One other thing you have removed all or any plastic transit spacers that may have been put in over the bar stud etc ? Can't imagine you would have left them in but just in case !

    Yea Had a small garden gun once . Cant remember the caliber but it had very small brass cartridges and very fine shot , smaller than skeet I would think . Don't know what happened to it ! ./ Got a gas Air rifel but the .410 is quicker and its fully moderated so no loud bang .
  16. Got a 390 on a 28" bar and a 395 on a 36" bar . Can't fault them . ( both got twin port mufflers ) . Not tried the 660 though I understand its pretty good .

  18. Dieing when warmed up amnd not restarting is typical of low comp . Take the exhaust can off and have a look to see if there is any scoring to the piston .
  19. Thats what i do and what he was doing . The back stroke was much faster with the file just kissing not trying to bite . Don't think it dulls the file uif its light .
  20. Ok but it looked like a Beretta or similar with a comb raiser on the stock and I'm sure it was O/U but hey !
