  5. best thing to start him off with IMO is first a comfortable harness 3x krabs 3 prussik loops of like marlow boa 37 meter rope yale xtc something simple keep it simple maybe add a cambium saver to the list but its not worth all the money on hitchclimbers spider jacks all that when 1 he may not like it and 2 it over complicates things when it comes to aerial rescue. its what you would do if you were at college and possibly in you Cs38 i dont know what they are like now but mine was kept simple

  15. the winner was will lee a good mate of mine, he was very suprised to have won the competition with the 3 bears in the boat. as the apf is slightly different in the way that, the judges were outsiders, people from upm tillhill and aw jenkienson so i think it was down to what they like more than artistic merit and skill. still all the carvers worked exceptionally hard and im sure they are all pleased with the hard efforts

  17. last year i was on a big job in central london, mayfair to put it likely in the old town houses with the steps up to the front door on a fancy cresent, anyway it was a massive old ash pollard that was being felled, the only acess we had was from the front of the street up the stairs though the front door in down the hall way though the kitchen out of a small glass door and down a very tight spiral stair case. the job was going well there was 5 of us on the job for about a week taking it in turns on different roles i was dragging brash on day and rather than squeezing up the spiral stair case we climbed the ladder and posted the brush wood though the door to the next grounds man. lets just say i forgot i was on the ladder went to turn around and walk off to pick up some more brush wood and fell to the floor below one big fall onto my bum a tad bruised but i was ok lesson learnt, actually no it was near the end of the day i did it agian but the other grounds man cought my collar of my t shirt and saved me. ooops. loooking back it was funny but a bruised coxyx hurts guys.

  19. IMO I would go in some sort of smart dress ie smart trousers or jeans and a shirt, leave your trousers and boots in the car if you need to do some sort of pratical assessment you can get changed, thats what i did on my last interview they were supprised but very happy with it, espically if its a big firm you may have better scope for the future. i have to admit it is a difficult balancing act. good luck mate I have struggled for the last six months looking for a new full time employer went to a few interview but half of them never got back to me got a new job now happy days
  20. this is a wicked video i found whilst on the net i hope it works i do love the ace tree vids and of course reg just keeps putting them out there. Split Eucalypt removal on Vimeo
  21. I have a mountain equipment duffle at the moment great very sturdy and dry bag. its similiar to the north face duffles. one problem never put your spikes at the bottom of your bag and throw i on the van as it ends up with some lovely holes in the bottom now
  22. is that the short one in a yellow scabbard?? i used to use them all the time until i got the brand new zubak thats that the pro senti saw has smaller blade nearer the tip
  23. there are too many things that I want but i dont really have the bank balance to pull it all off.... a new cut away strap may be all but looking for some new chainsaw trousers soon as spikey hawthorn and the rear of stihl hiflex trousers is not a good combo resulting now in a very drafty pair of trousers.... sewing kit out for the time being instead
  24. Im from watford.. the best thing is just post out your cv to all the local companies and hope for the best on arb jobs about a month ago there was a job at glendale going not sure if its been taken yet. all the best mate its been hard for me getting a new job in the local area as well
  25. After reading a very heated thread Im going to join in IMO chainsaw boots are one of the most important bits of clothing to consider, as most of us all work a 5 day week of at least 8 to 10 hours on our feet walking or moving about, the boots not only offer the chainsaw protection but are supportive in the anckle due to their higher cut I always look for them sorts of boots as on many occasions i have gone down rabbit holes of what not and could damage anckle if i was not wearing a supportive boot..... yes i understand that the price of PPE may seem extreme but wearing it all day every day you want it to be comfortable and safe. you guys never have problems spending loads of money on shiney new climbing gear me included but at the end of the day i would happly spend money on keeping my feet warm and dry in chainsaw boots than cheap toe tectors that break in half the time.
