  1. well the best one for that area is watford WD17 the car park is on grove mill lane. if you are coming from M25 junction 19 follow all the way round the roundabout 3rd exit towards watford town centre then its the first right turn down grove mill lane its just after the grove golf course head down that road follow around a mile or so then the carpark to the woods is on the left

  3. im nearly up to date on work photos worth while posting here tuesdays job a big sycamore over hanging plenty of gardens all rigged out to just a stem by 11 trunk down by 2 and all loaded up into the tractor a heavy old load i should think the crane did well on this one. now as for the snow please go away.
  4. yep he is doing very well still comes out on the tools most days. i think he has got an ancient tree semminar next week as well he is busy. chippers playing up at the moment not throwing wood chip right to the back of the lorry. like an asthmatic trying to blow through a straw.
  5. ha ha i think the next purchase is pulley saver maybe a 4x4 and other needless gear.

  7. either way it made it intresting chopping up recently for fire wood it was all like rock hard.
  8. yea it would have been great just to chip straight back into the hedge all hail the big chipper and lorry instead.
  9. the laurel hedge from hell intresting it ran over 100meters on both sides of the garden 3 lorry loads of wood chip and one long drag.

  12. as im not so fungi endowed but if my memory serves me something was said about meripilus and also there was plenty of fruiting fungi at the base as you can see in one of the pictures i have a picture of the stump somewhere.
  13. a massive beech takedown before christmas we got a fair amount of wood out of this one.
  14. the job from hell here very wind day all rigged out previoush pollarded so regrowth, the world and his wife on the other side of the fence neasden temple outbuildign car park you name it, does not do it justice really.
  15. well i have not bothered on here for a good few months now but here i go heres a few more work pictures. woodland ash takedown.
  16. well todays job was actually yesterday but we had to grind out a massive sycamore stump today luckly there was not much to do the base was rotten in the middle. here we go was a tad cold today all logs went into the trailer all brushwood was chipped very swift all done by 3 back at the yard.

Right just a few quick things getting ready for a good ole climbing day down in watford, well whos coming ?? i would like to have an idea of numbers but by all means its an open invite for all us tree climbing arbtalkers. i will post up where we will be meeting but its the wippendell woods car park just off grove mill lane, we will probably meet at 10 is everyone cool with that or a bit earlier. on the 2nd of feb as it is a public woods im sure there will be people walking past may ask a few questions so i think it will be a good idea we all bring lids just looks a bit better and we dont want any injurys. after all we are looking for UK gems, whos got a few tape measures. i do have a 50M one but its pants. Im bringing my kelly kettle as well for some hot drinks bring your own mugs. you all may want to bring lunch as well as its a drive to go and get food. awaiting your replys nathan:thumbup1:
  18. it was something else today a real eye opener and not too many people were about a lovely winters walk all i need now is a dog to take on a walk.
  19. doing a bit of research of some of the trees we are planning on climbing. the avenue of limes were planted in 1672. the whole wood was declared a SSSI in 1954. pretty impressive
  20. as said i would get a few pictures of possible trees on for the rec climb, i went for a stroll today though the woods to capture these giants, i also got a few of the oaks from within the park. the snow has been lovely round here.
  21. im gonna take the camera out this afternoon and have a look for a few of the contenders and take photos.
  22. well i think the 2nd of feb will be a good date not too far away but im sure the snow will clear by then.
  23. thanks tony that will be great for some help with the limes as i know over the years there have been a few failures we should try to keep safe. being local you know a few more trees that may be contenders for the uk gems. are those sweet chesnuts on the canal down towards ricky or up towards the grove ??
  24. funny old morning 6 oclock car had no ice on it a very dry night but was still -3 got to work all clear not even the sight of any new snow, arrived at the first job large ash to take down in a small garden all very swift but the blizzard hit at 9 on the dot as the forecast predicted by 10:45 we finised and there was a very heavy blanket of snow everywhere and made it an intresting one to take away a nicely loaded lorry of chips and logs. well done to the lorry thank god for diff locks on it. lets hope it does not come down anymore for tomorrow we have another big takedown but the MOGS will be out for that one.
  25. ha ha you get a few more mph out of it. but it does not always like it.
