  1. adam has done really well with these tethers ive used the hitchclimber one a few times and it works so well perfect size work efficentlly with the hitch. my only problem is my epic bounce in my line on srt but i dont do it all the time so does not warrant a new rope. The photo is from a recent reccy climb in norfolk with all the AB tethers on show. well done adam top job.
  2. couple from watford reccy climb and one from the cedar reccy climb the other week in norfolk.
  3. i did one last night for a BBQ and it took quite abit to light admitidally we took it away from a job we were at no more than 3 hours before once ours got enough air it burnt red hot all night. we used one lighter fluid to keep it going.
  4. if only I didnt just get offered to go back to college. i would be on a plan straigh away.
  5. only problem i find with using a hitch and pinto is summer sappy work locks it up so bad. looks like i may be getting a cinch have to try it out at the next show i think
  6. does anyone actually use a positioner. when you talk about it being jerky it that because its senstive to it just grabs some ropes hard if its soft outer? with the clinch it has 2 motions to release ive just read ?
  7. after a busy saturday at work we took home the fruits of our labour for the first BBQ of 2013 thenicqually its the secound one but it was fair weather. simple ash sweedish candle.
  8. Morning all arbtalkers. im looking to move off my simple rope grab on my lanyard but undecided on which may be best suited for the job ive read a few other threads but im still usnsure so would like peoples opinions and how each react with differnt rope sizes. i understand the clinch works best upto 11mm of dynamic cord but what are they both like in ajustments slackening the line. can you do it single handed unlike the rope grab. many thanks.
  9. you dont have to get a hitchclimber pulley they just create a neater system. just a simple swing cheek pulley will be fine. you just have to put both crabs on your bridge.
  10. i dont know if anyone else has experienced it but i find the 10mm ocean poly is alot harder wearing than 8mm in the same configuration in relation to the size if that makes sense.
  11. david it looked like you and the rest of your team did well to set up such good measures in closing off the footway and creating a new alternative safe route, but as everyone knows that pedestrians are a pain in the preverbial there is not much more we can do but keep good communication between the work force as plenty of people are bound to duck under tape move barrriers and be in danger but thats the narrow minded people that will just do what they want. well done in organising this well and i hope there was not too many other problems.
  12. well today was an epic deadwooding day ok large trees today, I also had my first experience of climbing a mature welly. couple from a cedar on site that lost its top about 10 years ago had now gained a new top from lower growth. and a weeping lime, the other cedar that i got no photos of the butress is well impressive its a monster un fortunatly it is loosing loads of branches in its old age but it still battles on.
  13. well there is a show a capel manor college next month but june is when the arb show is on i think there are a fair few though.
  14. well we are just about to start off the show season soon go there see the kit in the flesh ask questions or find some rec climbs that are going on near you and tag along.
  15. have you been on an courses for cs 38 and aerial rescue. you may have just started on a 4 wrap prussik which is a great place to start get used to the gear and moving around the canopy, if thata no problem, i use a simple hitch climber set up with a knut it a very simple knot but you can always realy on it. but if your more intrested in mechanical devices it seems to me that that slightly thinner ropes work best so 11.7mm around that. but 13 still works but just not a affective, everyones different.
  16. our tractor has had a new make over. it now has a loader it now make it look even more of a powerful lump.
  17. tony which one was that?? i had to go up a massive one in northwood the other day that one of you guys did a few years back.
  18. a very good point it as this thread also progresses you may see that other are having similar problems with use of such device. how old are they?? and are they used every day to gain access into the crown of said tree? i dont use my one all that much prefer just using a pantin.
  19. surely the line is seing glazed more by the moving hitch rather than the handle. one of my lines ha more damage though the toothed spikes on the cam rather than heavy glazing. how bad is the glazing.
  20. if you can get you mog ag registered LEZ is no problem, i may be wrong but we have never had a problem, we run 2 mogs on ag licence but as a company we do hold a operators licence so i spose this is how we are doing it.
