  1. Have you applied for a wig? The ewgs standard costs will give you an idea of cost. It's not too far out.
  2. Due to the small amount of timber there's no way you can make it viable with a machine (not mech Harv. I'm talking tractor/timber trailer) unless your neighbour has one. Do you have a management plan and felling licence in place? If some one is willing to do the work foc for the timber you've had a result. Where in Yorkshire is the timber? Alongside dbh you'll also need heights. Area to be worked. If possible planting year/age. Good luck!
  3. Well no, but I bet there's one along the way or within 10 miles on a farm/quary/steel works/timber merchant/ waste site/scrap yard/haulage firm....

    help

Actually Matt, they seem like sensible questions which may benefit other post readers. Though I would assume given the urgency it's a last min one off. A more specific location may sort the locals from those too far and save the op some time. Good luck if you make the call fella and I hope you find your man op.
  5. Just get him to run over a weigh bridge. Follow him there if you've got trust issues. Costs about a tenner...
  6. I have done but if honest I don't really like it. I find a good compromise it to drop as much in a day as you can with a no2 then process alone. I'm also very selective what I fell when it's just me and don't bother with bigger trees. It's a nice way to spend a frosty winters day. It's a horrid way to work in summer. I find it a lot easier to work if I'm not the only one suffering!
  7. But they have a re-branded bahco socket set for £19. 1/4 drive.

  9. Fd, I'd wait till you get to Wales, maybe volunteer somewhere to get some experience so you land running in Wales. A good all round book is woodland management by Chris Star. It's not too technical and it's easy reading.
  10. One of these sold on e bay with tipper for £6100 plus vat.... I wasn't allowed to bid.
  11. Also, yorkshires' a big place
  12. Aye, but that's rubbing the salt in eah? Best of luck!
  13. Just keep at it, there possibly isn't anything about right now. (if they're like Fc england they're still faffing trying to finish last years financials. Try tilhill but their desire for pointless paperwork is greater than the Fc. As mentioned wait for the tenders on the Fc website, they're not too hard to complete but put alot of people off. Just pester them every 2 months or so. Good luck.
  14. http://www.webasto.com/fileadmin/webasto_files/documents/country-folder/great-britain/hd/Brochure/uk-light-duty-vehicle-heater-price-list-jan-2013.pdf was yours a retro fit? You've got some swanky contracts for one of those puppy's. It's a £1,500 option on a £260,000 komatsu harvester. I know, you'd have thought it'd be included....
  15. I'm sorry folks but we live in a 24 hour world. If Horatio was a bus driver, fire man, nurse, commuting banker the few mornings a year where frost is an issue making your vehicle safe to drive is no reason to complain. As you are not conducting business on their behalf or on their property you are not required to pass on any ra/insurance details even if the fire wood processing was commercial. You can store your work tools where ever you want unless you have signed a document to the contrary. I would seek legal advice but not reply. Retain the letter, file it. Record when you process your timber just so you have a record. Use you're saws as you see fit at home. You know where you live! I'm fortunate. no neighbours, rural location, company is ltd but accountant's address is registered address. You can claim for the use of office space in your house without needing to pay commercial rates. If you have folks meeting at your place in the am. Pick them up round the corner. Mainly so they don't use your karsi for their morning dump. Do not engage in further communication over this matter. Do your research according to your location and local authority. Have any assisting documents filed and ready. Best wishes.
  16. Good stuff!!!! Is the cider cold enough yet? ))
  17. Warm enough to go kayaking in a short sleeve top at Holme Pirrepoint!
  18. This is odd, prior to doing my 30/31 they offered to post the saw to my training centre where I would be able to collect it for the beginning of my course. I ended up visiting family in Forest hill where I'm from so collected it in person. Though all I had to do was sign a piece of paper........ Perhaps it's the cost of shipping across the water?
  19. There's one on eBay, if you've a spare £32k
  20. I run a berlingo. 217k on the clock sailed the last mot, regularly tows a tonne, gets loaded to the gunwales and still averages out at 40mpg with a 2.0hdi. Great vans and you can get them for pennies. Sorry for the curve ball!
  21. That work looks familiar, did you make some chairs for sherwood pines?

    Stihl drill BT45

That's confirmed my thoughts, I've an 18v makita ni-cad. So an excuse for a li-on drill is fine with me. I seem to pick up a fair bit or recreation infrastructure work so it's possibly upto 100 holes a week. I'm aiming for a mini digger with an auger but until then a good petrol auger will be great! Thanks

    Stihl drill BT45

Has any one used these as a ground auger? I need a new drill and could use an auger every now and then. So, is it a good compromise or is it a right tool for the job thing? Cheers
