  1. Brash has been baled for a while now though on a much larger scale. If the machinery required could be cost effective at the scale you've suggested you could be onto a winner. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

The black 1000 eBay sale seems to have fallen through, I've been offered it for £5500 if any one wants it???? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Or both. A reasonable CCTV package is available from napkins. Options to suite most budgets. I'm lucky as my storage is outside my house and alarmed but also connected to the estate I rent my house from and the alarm is monitored 24/7 by ex gurkers. I've still gone for pir alarms and about a grands worth of CCTV which includes installation and I can control and view it on my phone, it also alerts me if there is motion detected. It'll be the best money you ever spend. It helped me sleep at night! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  10. I run husky's and have run them on stihl oil for years. It's what fr jones gave me when I first bought my 357. Now my local dealer is stihl. No issues at all. I'm cynical but sounds like they might be being a bit tight..... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  12. It will have a value, but the time and energy to hand cut, process and extract I'd guess with forwarder access will be around £20-25t without a forwarder who knows. I've just had a site clearing 15yo pine and there really isn't alot of weight to it. About 10t ha max with max dbh of 10cm. Less efficient to process too. If its something you tickle for personal use maybe..... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Sounds like a very useful tool for today's conservation style thinnings. I'd like to see one of those. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. I'd look into creating one large extraction rack at the top and winch upto it using a petrol capstan winch. Herringbone the trees in the racks for easier choking. Then use a machine for final extraction though at 15yo I can't see a value in it so I'd get a tracked chipper and leave it on site..... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  24. I would look for a reasonable second hand alpine(reverse drive) with a trailer. You've then got the options to add other implements for other work. Mowing/flail work. Fencing etc. If its too steep then hire one in with an operator. I think you'll find on production work over conservation, where timber is used to offset the cost of an operation rather than pay for it with profit..... The Alstor will struggle!
