  1. 5.30am till 10.30pm - geez. It's property price inflation that's killed it. People never used to have to slog their guts out to live comfortably.
  2. thanks for the pointers - customer keeps sounds great if you're a smooth talker
  3. 12 in a day - well industrial what are the best outlets for a lot of conifer chip? I see it all layed out in the field there, and wondered how you could find a home for it. I'm not up on the horticultural properties of different chip, but is it conifer not a good mulch?
  4. this - I bet loads of the interbred vermin read these pages
  5. a couple of possibilities with chippers and trailers - if the container and / or yard are fairly isolated and likely to get done over - consider taking the wheels off trailers and chippers and leaving them on axle stands. Maybe take an extra 10mins with battery impact wrench. A tracked chipper , could even take the starter motor off. Of course none of this works if they hiab. Chainsaws take them to bed
  6. I bought a Ridgeline smock after you raved about yours. First coat I've had that keeps heavy rain out. Only usable for work in winter though.
  7. all the time spent typing and reading, could have fixed the machine or been on the way to another stump
  8. makes sense - much quicker to burn. Used a customers shredder, petrol thing and it takes ages to process if you trim trees or lower a hedge. Maybe ok for pruning off shrubs to avoid driving to tip
  9. almost a finished coffee table
  10. seen it done in a movie (Wolf of Wall Street) would bring tears to my eyes to part with the readies
  11. just realized if I get a generator I can just buy a ready made electric compressor, probably cheaper than building something to bolt on a petrol engine
  12. thanks - metal/rubber drive dog - that's the sort of engineering know how I was looking for
  13. oh i see - it's not a new idea at all! thanks for reply - it's almost there, except I think they need a beefier GX390 one (and they haven't sorted a compressor add on yet)
  14. I am looking for eventually three things that can run off said engine compressor pressure washer generator all would be used only occaisionally, perhaps the pressure washer the most would it be really difficult to get the alternator, pressure wash pump and compressor gear, so each could be interchanged. - haveing a shelf of bits and one frame mounted engine to replace these 3 below? 6.5 kVA Honda GX390 Industrial Long Run Petrol Generator | eBay HONDA PETROL PRESSURE POWER WASHER GX390 / 13 HP ENGINE | eBay Honda 13hp GX390 Professional Petrol Air Compressor - 200L, 37.8CFM, 145psi | eBay looking at the compressor it is maybe too fiddly to have all three off one engine- but if Stihl etc can get a strimmer, hedgecutter and pole pruner out of one engine why not? (wouldn't mind upto an hour to change bits over) maybe it's as silly as asking 'can i have one engine to share between a panel van and a tipper?'
  15. great video - brings to mind the recent thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/rigging-roping/99316-cut-chuck-vs-rigging.html If they could do it as a race - two similar trees, same size crew, one step cutter, one rigger, maybe the step cutter could win if he was allowed a few dicey tear cuts too. First team to clear the garden leaving a passable lawn wins
  16. Agree - 86r good for cutting down overgrown hedges will go through upto an inch,if no one will see the rough cuts at the top its ok just got the 87t with 40" blades best finish on conifer and privet- much prefer it to the long reach
  17. saved the web page - thanks for posting. Most of the stuff I paid 60 quid for in Best Practices for SRT is now around on the web for free only comment - the conclusion 'seep into the wider society' prefer the diagrams and hard physics and biology myself, no need for anything too subjective
  18. if I've cut grass, hedges and a few trees spring summer and autumn, then need winter to count all the money, and work out how to lose any surplus on the stock market
  19. so when a single doctor or nurse messes up and a patient dies because they did something stupid - it brings into question the relevant medical assessors and awarding bodies?
  20. seems from pn above used in a few cars too OPEL CAMPO 2.2 D 1987 TO 1996 STARTER MOTOR HC-CARGO | eBay if this is same and can send back old, seems lowest cost LAUBER Starter ? item: 22.0552. Buy now!
  21. If the seller has written through ebay messages, and not on an unrecorded phonecall 'not selling at that price, worth double' then a screenshot of the ebay message maybe would stand up in court - a legal professional would know. I could image when e.g a vintage e type jag ended at tens of thousands less than what similar examples have recently sold for, it is the sellers fault for not putting a reserve. For thousands of pounds it would perhaps be worth the effort getting legal professionals, for a few hundred, maybe not unless you really want to teach him a lesson.
  22. that's a great effort - the big pharmaceutical companies have to spend billions on clinical trials, but your lucky, your patients dont need to consent and they can't do a runner
  23. when people stem inject glyphosate to kill off all or part of a tree, they must have tried similar application methods to get potent fungicides circulating through the trees sapwood. If it was that easy all the big arboretums and parks would be injecting everything in sight. The mycelium is presumably killable by man made chemicals though
  24. Sorry 40 ft oak - but it takes ages to get there - if it was a more rapidly growing species, then no problem, but to replicate a 40 ft oak tree roots don't go that deep, could the builders have used 8 by 4 sheets of 3mm stainless plate as a root barrier? Extra cost, but a nice big oak I think is an asset to a property - and keeps peasants like me employed sweeping the leaves
  25. 40 year old oak - 40 years growth to replicate
