  1. clue in second to last photo
  2. how is that relevant? Germany was also fighting Russia, would need to exand the scale, us Brits alone didn't do the whole 7.5m Germans
  3. that barchart says it all. 2008 to 2023. This is the backdrop - events leading up to when Hamas attacked. Of course people can say 'Hamas lied about those figures too'.
  4. there's an extra g "Gingko" is the common misspelling of Ginkgo (or Ginkgo biloba), a unique tree species that is often called a "living fossil" because it is the sole survivor of an ancient order of trees dating back over 200 million years.
  5. So in your summing up you have not one bit of empathy for all the Palestinians murdered by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. Of course the UN says the settlements are illegal, but what with the UN being in with Hamas and all they would say that wouldn't they. Talking to you and trying to reason with you about this - I feel like you're on the side of oppressors, completely brainwashed. Like our government who banned Palestine Action. Of course Palestine Action and similar groups want to hit out at anything they think has helped arm Israel. Israel is to my mind a vicious apartheid state. I'm like so what about the murders commited by Hamas, honestly. The reason is because for decades all Palestinians have been treated terribly by Israel. Israel steals their land - it's a fact. If the news reports of de facto annexation are made up, then maybe they made up the whole war.
  6. When Amsterdam was occupied the Jews suffered terribly, banned from public places, many rounded up and sent to the camps to be murdered. Now what? Now some of todays Jews, namely hardline Israelis have dealt some out themselves. Israel has committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, UN Commission finds 16 September 2025
  7. at least a lot of the composite blades for wind turbines are made in UK
  8. however, even though the Our World In Data checks out - agreeing with johnsond's search screenshot figure of 50.8% UK electricity from renewables (in that year) BOTH sources are wrong. Why? Because they include biomass in renewables. What a con that is. Can't see how we get 7% credit to our renewables target for shipping in wood and burning it. Burning trees is an impatient way of burning oil - both release carbon dioxide to form an insulating layer in the upper atmosphere. Carbon Payback Period: It takes a long time for new trees to grow and reabsorb the carbon emitted from burning older trees. This means that burning biomass can contribute to warming for decades or even centuries before a "payback" occurs.
  9. 42s Our World in Data link does show the UK if you type it in the search and the figure matches that in the bottom of of the above search screenshot - 51% ~ 50.8% . Even James Harvey would be happy.
  10. now it is 40% coal powered ? - too wet for hedge cutting, so I'm in fact checking mode and you are found out once more In 2024, coal accounted for approximately 59% of China’s electricity generation, with wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear contributing most of the remainder. You made it sound like coal use in China is already coming down due to renewables, it hasn't come down (there has been no transition over 15 years, as you claim. I agree with you it will happen, but coal use hasn't been reduced yet, the renewables have added to capacity, not replaced fossil fuel burning. So far China's total electricity generation has gone up, but coal hasn't come down. unlike UK or US - China is still building more of these coal plants
  11. why another week - China is polluting and spying on us this week.
  12. true enough - I'm quite happy for them to destroy the planet for future generations, as long as they will send me copy carburettors through my letterbox for £15, better than paying £100 from a local dealer.
  13. just because China aren't as bad as US or Canada per capita, doesn't mean they are in the clear, rather being responsible for 35% of world CO2 emissions, but only 17% of world's population means China are still world climate enemy number 1. All the coal they still burn - absolutely atrocious.
  14. China is still twice as bad as us - and there are billions of the blighters at it
  15. what you are getting at is China is not the worst polluter per capita (US is the highest polluter per person at 14 odd tonnes CO2 each per year) China only 8 tonnes and the angel like Brits at a mere 4 tonnes. Just going out for a drive now to bump ours up a bit . CO₂ emissions per capita OURWORLDINDATA.ORG An interactive visualization from Our World in Data.
  16. China vs. the world in CO2 emissions Total Emissions: China is the largest single contributor to global CO2 emissions. A 2023 report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) found that China was responsible for 35% of global CO2 emissions, exceeding the combined emissions of all developed economies.
  17. even with tyres it's asking a lot of the slabs - I don't own a 500i, but that would have been my favoured tool - along with another tool to lift it off the ladder/ spikes
  18. sorry can't comply - had my fix of attention seeking behaviour for now. Time for me to withdraw and compress
  19. wrong - all of those subjects are indirectly connected to black/ asian muslim rape gangs.
  20. race, religion, political and or sexual persuasion. There aren't many news items not about the above big 4. Black muslim gay Reform members are volunteering to break the Birmingham bin strike - and good on them. The BMGR volunteers said the workers on strike over a mere £8000 pa pay cut were letting the community down. 'If the money isn't enough for them they should leave and do another job', said one outspoken BMGR volunteer ( who had recently been released from prison for taking part in 7 gang rapes in 7 months).
  21. new posters are only allowed to talk about tree stuff for the first 1000 posts, unwritten rule
  22. you've previously used the analogy brain tumour, now it's forest fire - never anything negative to say about Israel. (Hamas are the baddies - Israel is only right to defend itself). What a joke. Palestinians have been killed by Israeli land thieves in the West Bank for decades Palestinian territory – encompassing the Gaza Strip and West Bank, including East Jerusalem – has been occupied by Israel since 1967. The UN Special Rapporteur has determined that Israel has imposed a system of racial oppression and discrimination that satisfies the prevailing evidentiary standard for the crime of apartheid, a crime against humanity. On 19 July 2024 the ICJ issued an advisory opinion – endorsed overwhelmingly by a subsequent UNGA resolution – detailing that Israel’s continued presence in the OPT is unlawful, asserting Israel must end its presence as rapidly as possible, immediately cease all new settlement activities and evacuate all settlers.
  23. from the above article Tensions rose sharply and quickly after two members of Hamas's elite forces were shot dead by gunmen from the powerful Dughmush clan in Gaza City's Sabra neighbourhood. One of them was the son of a senior commander in Hamas's armed wing, Imad Aqel, who now heads the group's military intelligence. Their bodies were left in the street, triggering anger and raising the prospect of a major armed response by Hamas. Hamas members later surrounded a large area where more than 300 Dughmush gunmen were believed to be holed up, armed with machine guns and improvised explosives. made me remember this - Israel covertly trying to arm clans to kill off Hamas Netanyahu confirms Israel arming clans opposed to Hamas in Gaza WWW.BBC.CO.UK Israel has been criticised for giving weapons to a group of "criminals and felons".
  24. still an attractive tree - and it's not as if you can get the nice thick silver birch trunks like that by replanting any time soon re the decay in pruning wounds - half way down France it's warmer, maybe they fare better than in UK
