    I have often thought of this as our Rayburn oven is often at 100 to 150 degrees and to get it up to 180 requires alot of wood. I nicked all the bits out an old leccy cooker and planned to fit the elements into the oven as a way of topping it up. Whether I get round to it is another matter!

    Exquisite morning flopping a big scotty onto a road. Happily started climbing with a 60cc saw, 4 gobs and back down to tidy road. Farmer assistance with tractor for tidy up then boshed the stem over the wall, tractor picked the lot up, home for lunch. Thankfully the 361 cheap Chinese coil I just fitted worked well and the troublesome geckos didn't gaff out either, and it was sunny.

    Delighted you have kept it old school. Was about to suggest a mk4 DC hilux for sale near me with 80k fella wants 3k for it. But reckon you have a belta there. Pics?     Came back to this, started first pull, ran fine for 10mins. Restarts fine hot or cold. Must be a gremlin somewhere but seems fine the now

    Just whacked a cheap 13quid coil in that arrived today. Appears to be running normally again. Tried adjusting flywheel gap on the OEM one that was giving me bother and ended up with no spark, even when set back up to normal business card gap! So guess it was on the way out. Couldn't bare to spend nearly 90quid on oem coil if they only last a few years! Could early failure be linked to flywheel or anything else?

    They are great saws and much more powerful than a 365. Mine always starts reliably which is more than I can saw for some stihls and Huskies I have!

    Rye chainsaw oil is well tacky. But tbh I stick all my oilers to max when carving. More oil on the tip means less wear to bar and chain which happens pretty fast with carving bars. Not usually much oil on a carving by the time you've hit it with a sander or whatever I have found.

    Rob, have you tried it with an old like a 076 and 880? I stopped doing this as when I let go the 076 throttle it was still going, and sounded to me like it was screaming. This is in the cut....be interesting to know how you found it. My preference was for saws more closely matched I.e a 88 and 66 or 076 and 050 etc

    cheers spud. dont know where i pulled woodchuck from, long day. perhaps that 361 you mentioned was mine? you did my coil about 3 years ago, so would be pretty disappointing if its failed again. i'll try giving it a bit more gap. thats pretty good news if that sorts it.

    My beloved 361 started playing up today. Kept pulling the starter out my hand and is behaving like an 064. Starting has really hard and seems to fire early and RIP the starter out your hands. Did manage to start it but didn't feel like it was revving up proper job. Piston is well. There is a slight playing in the flywheel woodchuck. Perhaps it has slipped slightly. Tried adjusting it and was easy to pull for a few pulls. Then back to tough. Disappointingly it seems the woodchuck key is forged into the flywheel rather than a replaceable part. So there goes 80quid. Anyone got any advice or anything to check before I shell out? Turning the flywheel the bearing did feel a bit lumpy like a 50p rather than super smooth, again dont know if that's super bad?

    If you end up getting a tirfor style definitely buy a 4t ratchet puller cheapo Chinese winch too. They are 25quid and I will do alot to use that rather that getting the tirfor out. They are excellent tools but a pig to heave about setup.

    Cheers for the thoughts. I'll persevere with the geckos a bit longer. Just hate that feeling once you start thinking your going to gaff out all the time.
